The industry side will be presented this year by Nana Janelidze, Director of Georgian National Film Center and Tamar Tatishvili, Georgian Representative in Eurimages, as well as Head of GNFC Distribution and Exports Department David Vashadze and Project Manager Keti Danelia.
As GNFC Director, Nana Janelidze will participate in Cannes Festival for the first time. She has planned introduction meetings with GNFC partners during the Film Market.
As usual, GNFC will organize aimed at the following:
Establishing business relations with film funds of different countries, planning of future joint projects and identification of alternative sources of financing for Georgian projects.
Sharing experience with regional European film funds.
Dissemination of trailers of new Georgian films and offering these films to various interntional festivals.
Positioning of Georgia as an attractive shooting location. A joint disc of GNFC and Georgian Natinal Agency of Tourism - Film and Tourism in Georgia – will be disseminated to the participants and guests of the Festival.
Georgian producers: Zaza Rusadze, Vova Kacharava and Noshre Chkhaidze will visit Cannes Festival for various purposes.
Vova Kacharava and Noshre Chkaidze participate in the program Producers Network. With the support of European Producers Network EAVE and Marche du Film Festival de Cannes, these Georgian producers, alongside with their European colleagues, are invited with a special status.
The aim of the invitation is to arrange a meeting of EAVE’s selected producers with the 550 participants of the section: financiers, distributors and sales agents, in order to support international coproductions.
As a result of joint offorts of GNFC and European Film Promotion, Georgian producer Zaza Rusadze was nominated for this year’s program PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE. This director and producer works on the development of several scripts, including the projects: full length feature film Negative Figures (script by Uta Beria) and Nika Machaidze’s animation film Ulaya Saba.
The Film Market in Cannes will screen Zaza Urushadze’s latest film Tangerines at 11.30 on May 21.
Maya Burduli’s short film War and Love will be presented in the Festival’s section “Short Corner”.
Cannes Film Market is one of the most significant film platforms worldwide, which unites representatives of international film industry, national film centers and other film institutions. This is a unique platform enabling filmmakers develop networks, establish cooperation, share recent achievements and make plans for the future.
