BELGRADE: Serbian filmmaker Goran Stanković is prepping the feature film Our Father / Oče naš for its world premiere in the Discovery section of the 50th Toronto International Film Festival (4- 14 September 2025). The debut feature is a coproduction between Serbia, Italy, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

LJUBLJANA: Peter Bratuša has started shooting Gaja’s World – Follow me / Gajin svet 3, the second sequel to the adventure comedy and Slovenian 2018 box-office hit Gaja’s World. The shooting will wrap up in August 2025.

SKOPJE: Venice Golden Lion and Academy Award winner director Milcho Manchevski is currently shooting his eighth feature film Leaving Copacabana / Zbogum, Kopakabano in the capital city of North Macedonia.

BUDAPEST: The Hungarian director Lili Horvát will start shooting My Notes on Mars / Jegyzeteim a Marsról this summer in Budapest and Vienna. The Hungarian/Austrian/French/Bosnian coproduction stars Mackenzie Davis and Rupert Friend.

BRATISLAVA: The acclaimed Slovak director Jonáš Karásek is finishing production on his new sports comedy Dream Team. The film is inspired by a true story from the Paralympics in Sydney 2000.

TBILISI: Acclaimed Georgian-French director Géla Babluani will start shooting his highly anticipated biopic Young Stalin, starring Cosmo Jarvis, in Tbilisi on 24 July 2025. The British/Georgian coproduction will then move to Bucharest. Los Angeles-based Upgrade Film Sales has already acquired its international sales.

NICOSIA: Cypriot director/writer Christos Georgiou is currently in postproduction with his feature film Worthy / Axios, a Cypriot/Greek comedy supported by the Cyprus Deputy Ministry of Culture.

LJUBLJANA: Slovenian director Áron Horváth Botka has started shooting his debut feature Lost Years / Izgubljena leta, a Slovenian/Serbian joint supported by the Slovenian Film Centre and Film Center Serbia.

BRATISLAVA: Slovak director Gregor Valentovič is wrapping up the filming on his Slovak/Czech coproduction Twenty-seven / Dvadsaťsedem, a debut feature supported by the Slovak Audiovisual Fund and the Czech Film Fund.

SOFIA: The historical feature Pilots directed by Anri Koulev and supported by the Bulgarian National Film Center is welcoming coproducers sharing the passion for flight and pilot films, which are according to the director “a separate genre with its own huge audience”.

BELGRADE: Serbian helmer Jelena Bajić Jočić is currently in production with her sophomore feature Guardian of Icon of St. George / Čuvar ikone Svetog Đorđa. This Serbian/Bosnian “drama of tragic optimism” is expected to hit local cinemas in the autumn of 2025.

SKOPJE: The Oscar-nominated co-director of Honeyland / Medena zemja, Tamara Kotevska, is currently in production with her anticipated debut feature Man vs Flock / Covek protivjato.

ZAGREB: Acclaimed director Vinko Brešan is in development with Mišo (working title), a biopic about one of Croatia’s most beloved music icons, Mišo Kovač.

BUCHAREST: Romanian director/writer/producer Marian Crișan will shoot his seventh feature film Holy Light / Lumina for 25 days starting 1 August 2025. The film is a coproduction between Romania, the Republic of Moldova, and Slovakia.

VILNIUS: The Lithuanian/Norwegian/Swedish feature film The Visitor / Svečias directed by Vytautas Katkus had its world premiere in the Crystal Globe Competition at the 59th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival on 7 July 2025. Totem Films is handling the sales.

KARLOVY VARY: The Lithuanian/Latvian/Belgian coproduction Renovation / Renovacija by Gabrielė Urbonaitė had its world premiere in the Proxima Competition at the 59th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival on 8 July 2025.
