WARSAW: Shooting has begun on Blood of Blood, an action series produced by Endemol Poland for Canal +. The show is the second original Polish television production that Canal + commissioned in 2011.
PRODUCTION: Documentary Sofia’s Last Ambulance
{mosimage}SOFIA: A Bulgarian/Croatian/German coproduction, Sofia's Last Ambulance directed by Ilian Metev was presented at the 2011 Doc Launch organized by the Institute of Documentary Film in Jihlava . The documentary follows three ambulance workers struggling to save lives in Sofia's crumbling medical system. The film, which will be released in 52 minute and 85 minute versions, has a budget of 260,000 euros. Metev is the cinematographer as well as directing.

BRATISLAVA: Fledgling Slovak director Lukáš Hanulák and award-winning scriptwriter Hana Cielová (The Sixth Sentence)are co-writing the first draft of Piargy: Antichrist Reborn, a feature based on a short story by Slovak 20th century writer František Švantner.
PRODUCTION: Corneliu Porumboiu is Developing A Nine-Minute Interval
{mosimage}BUCHAREST: Two years after Police, Adjective/Poliţist, adjectiv won Un Certain Regard Jury Prize and FIPRESCI Prize in Cannes, Corneliu Porumboiu is writing the script of a new feature A Nine-Minute Interval. He has completed the first draft and is working on the second one. A Nine-Minute Interval/Un interval de nouă minute will focus on Paul, a young film director whose project was blocked for a few years because it wasn't financed. In the meantime, he wrote and re-wrote the script. One day, Magda, his producer, tells him that she found some money but, since she didn't find all the funds, she proposes that he shoot on digital.

WARSAW: Director Krzysztof Łukasiewicz has begun shooting Żywie Biełaruś, a Polish production about the political reality on Belarus.
PRODUCTION: 7 of Hearts in Development
{mosimage} BUCHAREST: Sorin Marin, a businessman and the founder of Anonimul International Independent Film Festival (www.festival-anonimul.ro), is developing his first feature film, 7 of Hearts/7 de inimă roşie. Marin also wrote the script.
PRODUCTION: Polish 3D Thriller in Production
WARSAW: Polish director Maciej Odoliński had moved into production with Hot Date 3D. The thriller will be shot in Warsaw, Poznań and Nowy Tomyśl. Hot Date 3D follows a crook who tries to seduce an innocent teenager and use her for criminal purposes. The girl faces an uneven struggle for her life. The lead characters will be played by Paweł Wilczk and Sylwia Biedroń.
PRODUCTION: The Return of Captain Nemo 3D in Preproduction at MediaPro Studios
BUCHAREST: The Return of Captain Nemo 3D is expected to start shooting entirely on green screen at MediaPro Studios (www.mediaprostudios.com) in January 2012.
PRODUCTION: Wajda to Go into Production with Walesa
{mosimage}WARSAW: Andrzej Wajda had revealed the final plans and details for his long awaited film about Lech Wałesa. The director made casting changes and will move into production on 1 December 2011. Wałęsa is produced by Akson Studio (www.akson-studio.pl) in co-production with Canal + (www.canaplus.pl). The budget of the project is over 15 million PLN. The Polish Film Institute (www.pisf.pl) had already given it a 6 million PLN (EUR 1.3 million) grant.

BUCHAREST: After the highly acclaimed The Autobiography of Nicolae Ceauşescu/Autobiografia lui Nicolae Ceauşescu which concluded a trilogy on communism (comprising also Videograms of a Revolution /Videogramme einer Revolution and Out of the Present), Romanian documentary director Andrei Ujică plans to make a trilogy on the popular culture, The Beatles project (working title).

BUCHAREST: Toni Trupia's film Itaker, which began filming in Italy on 7 November 2011, moved to Romania in 21 November 21, for the final three weeks of shooting.
PRODUCTION: Lithuanian Doc Father in Postproduction
VILNIUS: Father, a 70,000 euro Lithuanian documentary directed by Marat Sargsyan, is in the final stages of production in preparation for a March 2012 release. The 52 minute film is produced by Dagne Vildziunaite for Just a Moment (www.justamoment.lt) production company.
PRODUCTION: Ho Ho Ho 2: A Family Lottery Begins Filming
BUCHAREST: A sequel to the family film Ho Ho Ho started filming on 7 November 2011 and is expecting to wrap 2 December,, representatives of the production company MediaPro Pictures (www.mediapropictures.com) told FNE. The director Jesus del Cerro is working on the script written by an American, Collin Jay Blair, and adapted into Romanian by Gabriela Ceuta. Alma Sârbu is producing for MediaPro Pictures. Shooting is taking place in and around Bucharest.
PRODUCTION: Polish Documentary Paradise Lost, Paradise Won in Postproduction
WARSAW: Beata Gołembiewska is in post-production with her documentary Paradise Lost, Paradise Won, the story of Polish aristocracy emigrating to Canada. The film will premiere in Poland in November 2012.
