NICOSIA: Cypriot director/writer Thomas Kallis is currently in postproduction with Vassilis Michaelidis – Hidden Winds. The documentary traces the life and work of pioneering poet and painter Vassilis Michaeilidis (1849 – 1917), who is considered by many the national poet of Cyprus.

BRATISLAVA: The three-part political thriller Moloch directed by Lukáš Hanulák and produced by the Czech company Bionaut and Slovakia’s Raketa for CANAL+, is currently being shot in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Ukraine. It is the first series from Central Europe to receive support from Eurimages’ Pilot Programme for Series Coproductions.

TALLINN: Estonian director German Golub is currently in production with his debut feature Our Erika / Meie Erika. This Estonian/Lithuanian/Latvian coproduction tells the story of Olympic track cyclist Erika Salumäe, who won Estonia's first Olympic gold after the country regained its independence.

BELGRADE: Serbian-German director Tanja Brzaković is currently in production with her drama The House / Kuća, a solely Serbian production supported by Film Center Serbia.

BUDAPEST: Blue Heron directed by Canadian first-time director Sophy Romvari starts shooting in Vancouver at the end of July 2024. This Canadian/Hungarian coproduction received support from the National Film Institute – Hungary.

BUDAPEST: Young Hungarian director Márton István Szabó is currently prepping his debut feature Captain Noise / Zajkapitány, which is financially supported by the National Film Institute – Hungary’s Incubator Programme. A dazzling, underground story, both humorous and lyrical, for audiences between 20 and 70.

BUCHAREST: The first feature film by Romanian writer/director/producer Bogdan Mureșanu, The New Year That Never Came, which is a coproduction with Serbia, has been picked up by Cercamon ahead of its world premiere in the Horizons competition of the 81st Venice IFF. Mureșanu is the author of The Christmas Gift (2018), the Romanian short film with the most international awards.

NICOSIA: Cypriot director/writer Adonis Florides is currently in postproduction with his feature film What We Did at Christmas / ΠωςΠεράσαμε τα Χριστούγεννα, which is expected to be released mid- to end of 2025.

BUDAPEST: The director of the Hungarian National Theater, Attila Vidnyánszky, is currently in production with Úri muri, megazisten!, an adaptation of Zsigmond Móricz’s famous 1928 novel Very Merry / Úri muri. The production of the film is supported by the National Film Institute – Hungary (NFI).

BELGRADE: Serbian Director Nikola Ljuca, whose 2016 debut feature Humidity (Dart) premiered in Berlinale Forum, started shooting his sophomore feature Rattlesnake / Zvečarke in Belgrade on 12 July 2024. This coproduction involves Serbia, Montenegro, Slovenia, Croatia, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as Greece.

LJUBLJANA: Slovenian director Boris Jurjaševič is currently shooting his youth feature film Elvis Škorc, Clever Klutz / Elvis Škorc, genialni štor, which is financially supported by the Slovenian Film Centre.

NICOSIA: Greek directors and writers Aris Kaplanidis and Elias Roumeliotis are currently in production with their animated documentary film The Women of 1922 / Oi Gynaikes Tou 1922, which is a Greek/Cypriot coproduction.

BUDAPEST: The Hungarian film Operation Sámán by Zsombor Dyga will start shooting in Hungary in August 2024, benefitting from a grant of approximately 7.13 m EUR / 2.8 billion HUF from the National Film Institute – Hungary.

BELGRADE: The revered Danish film, TV and theatre actress Marijana Jankovic, who was born in Montenegro but moved with her family to Denmark as a child, has wrapped shooting her directorial debut feature Home / Hjem (working title) in Serbia. This Danish/Serbian coproduction has applied to the Serbian cash rebate scheme.

BUCHAREST: Romanian director Tudor Cristian Jurgiu will start shooting his third feature film On Their Own / De capul lor at the end of July 2024. The film is a Romanian/Italian coproduction produced by Tudor Giurgiu and Bogdan Crăciun of Libra Films in coproduction with Simone Catania and Francesca Portalupi of Indyca.

NICOSIA: Cypriot director/writer Emilios Avraam is currently in postproduction with his debut feature Smaragda - I Got Thick Skin and I Can't Jump / Smaragda (Σμαράγδα), which is supported by the Cyprus Deputy Ministry of Culture.
