BELGRADE: Serbian Director Nikola Ljuca, whose 2016 debut feature Humidity (Dart) premiered in Berlinale Forum, started shooting his sophomore feature Rattlesnake / Zvečarke in Belgrade on 12 July 2024. This coproduction involves Serbia, Montenegro, Slovenia, Croatia, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as Greece.

LJUBLJANA: Slovenian director Boris Jurjaševič is currently shooting his youth feature film Elvis Škorc, Clever Klutz / Elvis Škorc, genialni štor, which is financially supported by the Slovenian Film Centre.

On Friday, 5 July 2024, the shooting of the youth feature Elvis Škorc, Clever Klutz by the director Boris Jurjaševič began in Ljubljana. The screenplay for the film is based on the novel of the same name by the author of youth literature and screenwriter Janja Vidmar.

VILNIUS: Lithuanian director Laurynas Bareisa’s sophomore feature Drowning Dry has been acquired by the French sales agent Alpha Violet. The film will have its premiere in the International Competition of the Locarno Film Festival (7 - 17 August 2024).

MESTIA: The 2024 edition of the Mestia International Short and Mountain Film Festival will have the legendary climber and film director Reinhold Messner as its guest of honour from 23 to 27 July 2024.

ZAGREB: The workshop and pitching forum Let's Pitch Some Shorts!, which took place in Zagreb, announced its winners. The main prize for the best pitch was awarded to the short fiction project Dandelion by the Maltese screenwriter Cassi Camilleri.

The children’s film Block 5, directed by Klemen Dvornik, has been selected for the official programme of the Locarno Kids Screenings section of this year’s International Film Festival in Locarno. The festival will take place from 7 to 17 August. The official Locarno Kids Screenings section, featuring the new Slovenian children’s film, has been running since 2017.

The following grants for feature film, documentary, docudrama and fiction documentary projects were announced by the Provincial Government of Vojvodina through the Provincial Secretariat for Culture, Public Information and Relations with Religious Communities on 2 July 2024.
