ZAGREB: New Europe Market (NEM) Zagreb, which will be held this year at the Esplanade Zagreb Hotel 7 - 9 December 2022, will focus again on the CEE region.

The CEE Animation Forum, the largest pitching and networking event in Central and Eastern Europe, took place between 2nd and 4th November. A total of 33 projects were presented in the 4 main competitions, with the juries presenting awards to a total of 14 animated works. This year, audiences were able to follow the programme in the creative space DEPO2015 in Plzeň and connect to broadcasts on social media.

The EFAD Board unanimously agreed to accept the application of the Cinematography Foundation Sarajevo.

PRAGUE: Ballerina, a spinoff of the John Wick franchise directed by Len Wiseman and starring Ana de Armas and presumably Keanu Reeves, starts shooting in Prague on 7 November 2022, according to the local media. Czech Anglo Productions is handling the services.

BERLIN: The European Film Academy is celebrating European cinema through a series of events entitled Month of European Film, starting on 13 December and culminating with the 35th European Film Awards gala in Reykjavik on 10 December 2022.

ZAGREB: Seven TV series projects in development were selected for the second edition of Series Rough Pitch – The Balkan Way, which takes place online on 7 November 2022 and will be streamed live.

SARAJEVO: The pan-European streaming service SkyShowtime will launch in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia on 14 December 2022, and it will expand to Czech Republic, Hungary, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania and Slovakia in February 2023.

WARSAW: Liam Hemsworth will star as Geralt in the fourth season of Netflix’s The Witcher, which is based on the book series of the same name by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski.

VILNIUS: Sergei Loznitsa’s Mr Landsbergis and Saulė Bliuvaitė’s Limousine are eligible for Oscar nominations in the Best Documentary Feature Film and Best Documentary Short Film categories, respectively.

PRAGUE: Prague Studios has started the building of its seventh stage, which will use the latest technology including LED Volume, allowing for virtual sets to project the background in real time.
