WARSAW: Wincenty Podobinski’s documentary Saint Michael: Meet the Angel ended up third in the US box office on 29 September 2022 with 52,000 admissions and the highest audience per screen average (making 799 EUR per screen). The film was released in 811 cinemas as a one day event through Fathom Events.

PRAGUE: Submissions are open for the 5th CEE Animation Workshop, a training programme for developing projects and enhancing skills. The deadline for submissions is 24 October 2022.

BRNO: A total of 25 films, selected from among 243 entries, are competing in the 48th edition of the EKOFILM International Film Festival, which will take place in Brno, the Czech Republic, from 12 to 15 October 2022.

CZECH REPUBLIC/Brno - The EKOFILM dramaturgy team has selected the top 25 films in competition from a total of 243 entries. The festival jury will award the best films in the sections Beauty of Nature, Central European Films and Short Films. Any of the films in competition can then win one of the other awards - the Main Award of the Minister of the Environment for the best film and the President's Award of the Festival. The festival will take place from 12 to 15 October in Brno, and we are already revealing the programme and opening bookings for individual screenings on the website www.ekofilm.cz.

BRATISLAVA: The fire that broke out in the Digital Audiovisual Department of the Slovak Film Institute (SFI) on 20 September 2022 caused significant damage to the digitalisation and digital restoration equipment, according to the Slovak Film Institute.

On Tuesday, 20 September 2022, in the early morning hours, a fire broke out on the premises of the Digital Audiovision Department of the Slovak Film Institute (SFI) – an in-house digital restoration centre of the Slovak Film Institute in Bratislava, Slovakia.

BUCHAREST: HBO Max original series Spy/Master, directed by Christopher Smith and produced by Proton Cinema and Mobra Films, is currently shooting in Romania and Hungary. The series stars the Romanian actor Alec Secăreanu (God’s Own Country).

PRAGUE: The 9th edition of the Be2Can Film Festival will present 21 premieres in three cinemas in Prague as well as in 30 cinemas across the Czech Republic from 5 to 12 October 2022. This is the biggest edition of the festival so far.

BUCHAREST: Bogdan Theodor Olteanu is shooting his third feature film, the comedy Taxi Drivers / Taximetriști, from 19 September to 5 October 2022. The film is an independent 100% Romanian coproduction produced by Bold Film Studio (the first film investment fund in Romania), together with Tangaj Production and Avanpost Media.
