LIMASSOL: Daphne by Tonia Mishiali received the First Prize for Best Cypriot Film at the 12th International Short Film Festival of Cyprus, which took place in Limassol 8 – 14 October 2022. The film also won awards for best director and best actress.

SIBIU: Romanian/Hungarian Too Close / Apropierea directed by Botond Püsök won Best Film in the New Voices of the Documentary Competition at the 29th edition of Astra Film Festival, which took place in Sibiu, Romania 9 – 16 October 2022.

BUCHAREST: Fifteen projects from Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Moldova and Ukraine have been selected from among nearly 200 submissions for the 7th edition of the FILM+ programme.

FILM+, the alternative program supporting independent film productions, announces the participants of the 7th edition, following the call for projects opened this summer.

The Deputy Ministry of Culture of Cyprus and the Rialto Theatre launch a call for submissions of feature films in the two Competition Sections of “Cyprus Film Days”, the official international film festival of Cyprus.

BUDAPEST: The National Film Institute – Hungary (NFI) is organising, between 18 and 21 October 2022, an online auction for items once used in the Mafilm studios and owned by Mafilmrent Kft.

WARSAW: Sixteen projects from 17 countries, including Poland, the Czech Republic, Georgia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Lithuania, have been selected for the 9th edition of SOFA – School of Film Advancement (2022-2023). After two virtual editions, the training programme returns with a larger lineup.

WARSAW: Here is the list of the titles selected by FNE partner countries as candidates for the 95th Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences award in the Best International Feature Film category. Six of these 17 titles are debut features.

PRAGUE: The 30th anniversary edition of the Prague International Film Festival – Febiofest, planned for April 2023, has been cancelled, as founder Fero Fenič regained ownership of the festival’s trademarks but needs more time to find a new owner to organise it.
