VENICE: The 19th edition of the CICAE international training addressed to art house exhibitors will be held on the San Servolo island in Venice 29 August – 4 September 2022. This year the programme will welcome 40 exhibitors and young film professionals from 20 countries.

LOCARNO: The Slovak/Czech coproduction Nightsiren by Tereza Nvotová was awarded the Pardo d’oro Concorso Cineasti del presente for best film at the 75th Locarno Film Festival (3 - 13 August 2022). In the same competition, Croatian production Safe Place by Juraj Lerotić received the awards for best emerging director and best actor (Goran Marković). Safe Place also received the Swatch First Feature Award, while the Polish majority coproduction Love Dog by Bianca Lucas received a Special Mention in the First Feature Competition.

WROCLAW: American feature film projects in rough or final cut can be submitted for finishing funds to the 2022 edition of U.S. in Progress, which will take place during the 13th edition of the American Film Festival in Wroclaw, Poland 9 – 11 November 2022. The deadline is 11 September 2022.

SARAJEVO: The Be Innovative workshop, which is a part of the 19th Arthouse Cinema Training mentoring programme of CICAE (the International Confederation of Arthouse Cinemas), was held during the Sarajevo Film Festival from 13 to 15 August 2022.

PRAGUE: The Czech adult family comedy Střídavka by Petr Nikolaev, which premiered on 4 August 2022, is ranking first after the opening weekend in the Czech Republic, with 28,498 admissions, ahead of the Hollywood action film Bullet Train.

BUCHAREST: Romanian director Vlad Petri is currently in postproduction with his long documentary Between Revolutions / Intre revolutii. This Romanian/Croatian coproduction is among the nine Central and Eastern European projects to be showcased at the Docu Talents from the East 2022 within the CineLink Industry Days on 15 August 2022.

ZAGREB: The 8th edition of the Brač Film Festival is screening the most recent films from the region on the island of Brač, in Croatia, from 10 to 13 August 2022. After two years of the pandemic, the festival returns with no restrictions.

BUDAPEST: The big budget 10-hour series Rise of the Raven produced by Robert Lantos is currently shooting near Budapest with an international cast. More than 600 actors and stunt people are used in the series financed by the National Film Institute – Hungary with 28.3 m EUR in 2020.

BUDAPEST: As a tribute to Marcell Jankovics, who passed away in 2021, his latest work Toldi will be theatrically released in Hungary by Kecskemétfilm and Mozinet on his birthday on 20 October 2022.
