During the closing award ceremony, the WEMW Co-Production Forum Jury consisting of Hervé Aubron (Quinzaine des cinéastes), Pierre Dallois (Ciclic Centre-Val de Loire), film director Una Gunjak and Angeliki Vergou (AGORA | Thessaloniki IFF & Thessaloniki IDF) announced the two top winners of this year.
TRIESTE: The Moldavian/Romanian feature film Lenin’s Pawn by Dragoș Turea and the documentary Strange Sea by Lala Aliyeva (Azerbaijan) received the top prizes, the Film Center Serbia Development Award and Ciclic WEMW Award, respectively, at the 14th edition of When East Meets West (WEMW, 21 – 24 January 2024).

BUCHAREST: The Romanian comedy Part-time Daddy / Tati part-time directed by Letiția Roșculeț, tops the general box office in Romania with 285,682 admissions and 1.57 m EUR / 7,856,321 RON gross. Another domestic comedy, Klaus & Barroso, opened as the first in weekly charts with 248,000 EUR / 1,232,892 RON gross on 16 January 2024.
LOS ANGELES: The Polish minority coproduction The Zone of Interest by Jonathan Glazer has received five nominations for the 96th Academy Awards. The film was nominated in the Best Picture, Best Director, Best International Feature Film, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Sound categories.
