WARSAW: Bartosz Konopka’s historical drama The Mute has been picked up by the Paris-based Reel Suspects. The Mute / Krew Boga was produced by Otter Films in coproduction with Polish Odra-Film and Belgium’s Earlybirds Films, and it was supported by the Polish Film Institute.
TORONTO: Seven films from CEE countries are among the 27 European films selected for the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival which have been granted Film Sales Support (FSS) by the European Film Promotion (EFP).
BRUXELLES: The 2018 edition of the European Heritage Days (EHDs) celebrates “The Art of Sharing”. An extensive and varied programme will take place across the participating countries from late August to October 2018.
The European Heritage Days (EHDs), a joint initiative of the Council of Europe and the European Commission, are the most widely celebrated participatory cultural events shared by the citizens of Europe. The pan-European nature of this project contributes to bringing citizens together and highlighting the European dimension and the value of cultural heritage in the 50 signatory States of the European Cultural Convention. Over 70 000 events are organized every year in order to help raise awareness of Europe's common heritage and the continuous need for its protection, as well as to promote inclusiveness and foster creativity and imagination.
SOFIA: An Indian fantasy Brahmāstra, the debut feature of Ayan Mukerji, wrapped shooting in Bulgaria. According to the Indian media, shooting took place at the spa resort Devin, in the Rhodope Mountains.
TIMIȘOARA: Eight films from CEE countries will screen in the competition of the 2018 edition of the Timișoara Central European Film Festival, running from 29 August to 2 September 2018.
ULCINJ: Belgium's May Day directed by Olivier Magis and Fedrik de Beul was awarded best short film at the 4th edition of the Seanema Film Festival, which took place in the town of Ulcinj, Montenegro from 23 to 26 August 2018.
The one and only meeting in Central and Eastern Europe, during which Anna Kvorning from LAIKA will recruit animators and costume makers to work in the studio in USA will be held this year at ANIMARKT Stop Motion Forum.
