German Films supports foreign theatrical releases of German films with 302,900 Euro
Press releases 16-10-2024In the third meeting of 2024, German Films „Distribution Support" awards committee decided to support 41 foreign theatrical releases of German films. In total 302,900 Euro were allocated.
BUDAPEST: Csaba Kael, the government commissioner for film in Hungary, announced at the opening of the Made in Hungary film festival, held in London at the Hungarian Cultural Centre, that Hungary has officially become the second most important centre for film production in Europe, after London.
TALLINN: Eleven titles chosen from among 250 films from 66 countries landed in the First Feature Competition selection of the 28th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF). The festival will be held 8 – 24 November 2024.
COLOGNE: The 7th edition of the established industry event European Work in Progress Cologne (EWIP, 14 – 16 October 2024) announced its winners.

Press releases 15-10-2024Dear colleagues, This years 7th edition of the well established industry event European Work in Progress Cologne (EWIP) came to a successful end with the award ceremony on the evening of October 16th 2024. During the two EWIP days, over 250 top-class colleagues from the European film industry (world sales, distribution, festivals, production, financing and marketing) met to look out for the most promising film projects of the coming months and to exchange ideas. The independent jury of renowned and highly experienced experts – Heino Deckert (Ma.ja.de. Filmproduktions GmbH), Priscila Miranda (film producer / independent film distributor Fenix), Sophie Stejskal (Filmladen Filmverleih), Urte Fink (ZDF/ARTE), Paul Ridd (Festival Director Edinburgh International Film) – decided among the 29 international film projects presented and awarded prizes worth almost a total of € 60,000.
As is tradition, Riga International Film Festival (RIGA IFF, 17–27 October) will offer to enjoy the celebration of cinema not only in person, at cinemas Splendid Palace and Forum Cinemas, but also online throughout Latvia. During the festival, the online platform online.rigaiff.lv will host more than 20 screenings, among them finds from the biggest film festivals, moving dramas, suspenseful psychological thrillers, as well as carefully selected films for children and families, and a flamboyant selection of short films. Works in Progress, which presents films in production or post-production looking for sales agents or festivals for international premieres, presents 17 projects in three categories: Baltic Event Works in Progress, International Works in Progress and Just Film Works in Progress. The selected projects include first features by Student Academy Award winners and a European Film Award winner and new titles by established directors.
TALLINN: With the 10.9 m EUR that the state will allot to develop infrastructure and support services for the film industry in Jõhvi, the Ida-Viru Investment Agency plans to establish a creative industries incubator building in the Jõhvi business park by September 2026.
Lithuanian Director Eglé Razumaite Selected for 48th Rėsidence of Festival de Cannes
Lithuania 13-10-2024VILNIUS: Lithuanian director Eglé Razumaite is among the six emerging film talents selected for the 48th Rėsidence du Festival de Cannes. Eglé Razumaite’s Ootid / Ootidė took part in the Short Film Competition of the 77th Cannes Film Festival.
VILNIUS: The 12th edition of the Baltic Pitching Forum (BPF), which was held in Vilnius 8 – 11 October 2024, wrapped with the announcement of the winners.
