HERCEG NOVI: The second edition of the female-focused tailor-made programme CIRCLE Fiction Orbit is underway in the Montenegrin town of Herceg Novi from 24 November to 1 December 2024. The event is organised by CIRCLE together with the Film Centre of Montenegro.

VILNIUS: The Lithuanian/Latvian coproduction Drowning Dry / Sesės directed by Laurynas Bareiša will be released in the USA by Dekanalog in the spring of 2025. The film has been selected as Lithuania’s candidate for the 97th Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences award in the Best International Feature Film category.

BUDAPEST: SkyShowtime is expanding its reach in Hungary, where it is available through the telecommunications leader Magyar Telekom starting 27 November 2024.

VALLETTA:  Minister for National Heritage, Arts and Local Government Owen Bonnici will assume responsibility for the film industry and the Malta Film Commission.

The Lithuanian Film Centre distributed 312,410 EUR as production support for five minority coproductions and three first short film on 1 July 2024.

The following production grants were announced by the Arts Council Malta on 21 November 2024.

VILNIUS: Lithuania’s capital city will host 500 guests at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Vilnius as the 23rd Europa Cinemas Network Conference will be held for the first time in the Baltic Countries from 28 November to 1 December 2024.

BUDAPEST: The National Film Institute – Hungary (NFI) has developed its domestic films streaming platform, therefore FILMIO now has Chromecast support, making the content consumption on TV sets easier.

The Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF) will set the focus on Catalan Cinema in 2025 in its 29th edition. The focus is driven by the growing international reputation of the Catalan film industry and its ambition to be more visible and seek opportunities for cooperation in the region. The focus is promoted by The Catalan Institute of Cultural Companies (ICEC) and Institut Ramon Llull, which aim to internationalize Catalan audiovisual talent and companies in the sector. 

LJUBLJANA: Lesson Learned by Bálint Szimler received the Kingfisher Award for the Best Film in the Perspectives Competition at the 35th edition of the Ljubljana International Film Festival (LIFFE, 13 – 24 November 2024).
