TBILISI: The National Archives of Georgia scanned and digitised 129 film materials over 2024.

From February 13 to 23, 2025, Berlin will once again become the center of the film world. The Berlin International Film Festival is inviting audiences and the industry to its 75th anniversary edition this year. A total of 66 German productions and co-productions will be screened in the sections of one of the three largest international film festivals. In addition to the screenings in the cinemas, the European Film Market will once again open its doors.

LONDON: The Latvian majority coproduction Flow directed by Gints Zilbalodis has been nominated in the Animated Film category as well as in the new Children’s and Family Film category at the BAFTA (British Film Academy Awards) 2025. The Brutalist, shot in Hungary with Proton Cinema servicing and using the local tax rebate, has nine nods including for Best Film.

Tales from the Magic Garden Makes Its World Premiere at Berlinale Generation Kplus 2025:  The animated feature film Tales from the Magic Garden will have its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival 2025 in the Generation Kplus competition. The stop-motion film, inspired by the children’s fairytale book Of Unwanted Things and People by Czech author Arnošt Goldflam, celebrates the art of storytelling. With a unique blend of fantasy, humor and a sensitive exploration of loss, it shows how imagination can help families stay close and find joy even in tough times.

BRATISLAVA: American editor Jay Rabinowitz, Romanian producer Ada Solomon and French editor Juliette Welfling are special guests of the 12th edition of the Visegrad Film Forum (VFF), which will be held in Bratislava from 19 to 22 March 2025.

The 12th edition of the Visegrad Film Forum will unveil the behind-the-scenes world of cinema in Bratislava from March 19–22. Among the event's highlights is a special appearance by acclaimed editor Jay Rabinowitz, renowned for his work on 8 Mile, Requiem for a Dream, and The Tree of Life, who has collaborated with well known directors like Jim Jarmusch and Darren Aronofsky.

LOS ANGELES: The Latvian majority coproduction Flow directed by Gints Zilbalodis made history at the Golden Globe Awards 2025 as it beat Inside Out 2 and Moana 2 on its way for the Best Motion Picture – Animated Award. A coproduction between Latvia, Belgium and France, Flow was supported by the National Film Centre of Latvia, among others.

ZAGREB: The Croatian/Italian/Slovenian hybrid documentary Fiume o morte! directed by Igor Bezinović has been picked up by the Swiss-French sales agent Lightdox ahead of its premiere in the Tiger Competition section of the International Film Festival Rotterdam (30 January – 9 February 2025).

TRIESTE: This year’s programme of When East Meets West (WEMW, 19 – 22 January 2025) introduces a whole new series of Talks, targeting a unique variety of topics.
