BUDAPEST: Cold War action adventure Mayday starring Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh will be shot in Budapest as well as in San Diego and Montreal starting 5 February 2024.

The 27th edition of Black Nights broke several records in terms of global media coverage - the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival was mentioned in over 6800 articles in 93 countries, and the number of potential media contacts rose to 19.9 billion. The number of admissions was significantly higher than in 2022, and is comparable to the all-time record year, 2019.

BUCHAREST: Projects by Rady Jude, Danis Tanović and Sergei Loznitsa are among the winners of the latest production grants announced by the Romanian Film Centre (CNC). Approximately 5.7 m EUR / 28,310,000 RON were distributed for the production of feature films, debut features, thematic fiction films, documentaries, animated films and minority coproductions.

The following grants were announced by the Romanian Film Centre on 3 October 2023.

LJUBLJANA: The 20th edition of the International Animated Film Festival Animateka, which was held 27 November - 3 December 2023, has announced its winners. The Jury Grand Prix in the Main Competition programme went to the Polish/Latvian coproduction Misaligned directed by Marta Magnuska.

BUDAPEST: A Golden Life (Burkina Faso) by Boubacar Sangaré was awarded Best Documentary in the International Competition of the Verzió International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival, which celebrated its 20th anniversary edition from 22 to 29 November 2023 in Budapest.

BUCHAREST: Romanian sexy comedy Miami Bici 2 directed by Jesús del Cerro tops the domestic charts with 198,324 admissions in the opening weekend, followed by Napoleon with 44,379 admissions.

STRASBOURG: New film projects by Ildikó Enyedi, George Ovashvili and Filip Remunda are among the 29 winners of Eurimages Co-production support on 27 November 2023.
