This year for the ninth time FNE together with FIPRESCI organised the ratings of all feature films in the main Crystal Globe competition, and the Proxima competition of the official Karlovy Vary International Film Festival programme by international critics attending the Festival.

BUCHAREST: Romanian gross box office was 62 m EUR in 2023, higher by 25.7 percent than in 2022, and total admissions increased by 15.7 percent, according to official statistics published by the Romanian Film Centre (CNC).

SOFIA: American actress Jessica Lange attended the opening of her photo exhibition at the National Gallery in Sofia on 4 July 2024. This is the 16th exhibition in the programme Masters of Photography organised by the museum.

The 58th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, a non-specialized festival with two competitive categories, took place from June 28th to July 6th 2024. It was organized by Film Servis Festival Karlovy Vary, a.s., with Jiří Bartoška as the president of the festival, Karel Och as its artistic director, Kryštof Mucha as the executive director and Petr Lintimer as the head of production.

BUCHAREST: Romanian director Tudor Cristian Jurgiu will start shooting his third feature film On Their Own / De capul lor at the end of July 2024. The film is a Romanian/Italian coproduction produced by Tudor Giurgiu and Bogdan Crăciun of Libra Films in coproduction with Simone Catania and Francesca Portalupi of Indyca.

RIGA: The industry event of the Riga International Film Festival (RIGA IFF), RIGA IFF Forum, has launched the call for applications for its two main events: Short Riga Test Screenings and RIGA IFF Showcase. The deadline is 12 August 2024.

TALLINN: Female film and TV industry professionals from the Baltic countries under the age of 30 can apply to the "Baltic Women in Film Mentorship till 11 August 2024. The 4th edition of this programme will be held during a seven-month period from October 2024 to April 2025.

RIGA IFF FORUM, the industry programme of Riga International Film Festival (RIGA IFF) taking place 24–26 October, has announced the open call for its two main sections. Starting 12 June, submissions are open for RIGA IFF SHOWCASE, a pitching session for feature film and series projects, as well as for SHORT RIGA Test Screenings, a regionally unique in-depth professional feedback session for short films.
