The Baltic states of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia alongside guest country Greece will unveil new talents and projects at respected industry event

BANJA LUKA: The documentary-media art film festival and educational platform Cinema Parallels has chosen for its 4th edition the theme Documenting Realities: The Facto Fiction Films. Cinema Parallels starts in Banja Luka on 6 September and will wrap on 9 September 2023.

BUCHAREST: The 9th edition of the Bucharest International Dance Film Festival (BIDFF, 7 – 10 September 2023) is built around the theme of Clusters and is structured into five sections, conceived as “clusters”: Films, VR, Expand, Community, and, for the first time, Exchange.

BUDAPEST: The 6th edition of the Budapest Classics Film Marathon, organised by the National Film Institute – Hungary, will screen over 100 films in various locations in Budapest from 12 to 17 September 2023.

VENICE: FNE has teamed up with FIPRESCI critics attending the Venice Film Festival to rate the films in the Main Competition, Orizzonti, Venice Days and Critics Week giving the films 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 stars. 5 is the best and 1 is the worst. The ratings give an overview of critics’ opinions from a large number of countries and provide insights to what critics in many different countries think about the programme.

TALLINN: Anna Hints' documentary Smoke Sauna Sisterhood is among the five finalists for the 2024 LUX European Audience Film Award, presented by the European Parliament and the European Film Academy, in partnership with the European Commission and Europa Cinemas.

SOFIA: Sofia Animation Lab has announced a call for Bulgarian projects for the second edition of the Annecy-Bulgaria Animation Pitching Workshop 2023, which will be held in Sofia 30 October – 3 November 2023. The submission deadline is 30 September 2023.

COTTBUS: The 33rd edition of FilmFestival Cottbus will present the latest and best 150 Eastern European films from 7 to 12 November 2023. Accreditations are open and include a great offer for students.
