PRAGUE: Streamers including both domestic and foreign streamers, will be obliged under a new plan put forward by the Czech Ministry of Culture to allocate 2% of their revenues to the Czech Film Fund. They will join cinemas, broadcasters and other content platforms.

BUDAPEST: The drama series The Day of the Jackal produced by Carnival Film & Television for Sky/Peacock and starring Eddie Redmayne is currently filming. The shooting started in June 2023 and is slated to take place in Hungary, Croatia, UK and Austria during seven months.

BRUSSELS: Marek Bień from Polish Gutek Film and Stefan Bradea from Romanian Bad Unicorn are among the 13 members of the new Board of Europa Distribution.

The 10th edition of the Venice Gap-Financing Market (September 1 - September 3, 2023), organised as part of the Venice Production Bridge, will take place during the forthcoming 80th Venice International Film Festival (August 30th - September 9th, 2023) and will offer selected projects from Europe and around the world the opportunity to close their international financing, through one-to-one meetings with international decision-makers.

STRASBOURG: Sixteen majority and minority coproductions from FNE partner countries are among the 33 projects receiving Eurimages Co-production support at the second session in 2023. The results were announced on 3 July 2023.

ŽILINA: The Swiss production Armat directed by Elodie Dermange received the award for Best Animated Short at the 16th edition of the Fest Anča International Animation Festival, which took place in Žilina 29 June - 2 July 2023. The only Slovak multimedia festival focused on animated films primarily for adult audiences was centred this year on the theme of Utopias.

On Wednesday 14 June 2023, Europa Distribution held its General Assembly online and elected its new board for 2023-2026. 13 candidates from eleven different territories were successfully voted as new board members by the members of the association.

This year for the eighth time FNE together with FIPRESCI are organising the ratings of all feature films in the main Crystal Globe competition, and the Proxima competition of the official Karlovy Vary International Film Festival programme by international critics attending the Festival.

PARIS: Nine projects from FNE partner countries are among the 17 new projects selected for support in the framework of the 3rd edition of Europa Cinemas’ Collaborate to Innovate programme.
