Worlds's living legend of comedy John Cleese will receive the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo Award for his extraordinary contribution to the art of film at the 23rd edition of Sarajevo Film Festival.

After the award ceremony, Sarajevo Film Festival’s audience will have the opportunity to see legendary comedy A FISH CALLED WANDA within the Open Air Programme.

John Cleese is best known for his involvement in MONTY PYTHON’S FLYING CIRCUS, FAWLTY TOWERS, MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL, MONTY PYTHON’S LIFE OF BRIAN, and A FISH CALLED WANDA.

4/07: MEPs endorse Mariya Gabriel as Digital Economy Commissioner – Parliament Magazine
MEPs have confirmed Mariya Gabriel as the new digital economy and society Commissioner. Gabriel has been an MEP since 2009 and is currently a Vice-Chair of Parliament's EPP group. She was recently rapporteur on introducing a visa waiver for Ukrainian citizens entering the EU.

PRAGUE: Central European Media Enterprises Ltd. has agreed a 230 m EUR deal to sell its leading broadcast operations in Croatia (Nova TV) and in Slovenia (POP TV) to Slovenia Broadband S.à r.l., a subsidiary of United Group B.V.. The deal is subject to certain closing conditions, including regulatory approvals.

The program for the 17th T-Mobile New Horizons International Film Festival (August 3-13) will include the film for which Sofia Coppola won the award for best director at the latest Cannes Festival, The Beguiled.

MOTOVUN: Eighteen films have been selected for the main programme of the 20th Motovun IFF, set to take place from 25 to 29 July 2017.

Latvian long documentary The Smuggler, currently in production, follows a guy who is helping immigrants to get across the border between Russia and Latvia.

COTTBUS: Applications are open for the East-West co-production market connecting cottbus (coco), set to take place during the FilmFestival Cottbus on 9-10 November 2017. Producers can apply with a project for coco Pitch and also for the new programme coco Work in Progress.

The following grants were announced on 5 July 2017.

KARLOVY VARY: Karlovy Vary IFF together with MIDPOINT, Trieste FF and When East Meets West launched a training and development programme for emerging talents from Central and Eastern Europe. The programme will scout the most talented filmmakers and producers of the future.

ZAGREB: Shooting of the BBC series McMafia directed by James Watkins and starring James Norton wrapped in Opatija last week. The series was shot in various locations first during the winter of 2016, when most of the scenes were filmed in Zagreb, while the second part of filming took place from May 2017, when the cast and crew moved down to the coast. The local spending of international projects benefitting of the incentives programme is expected to be more than 13.5 EUR / 100 m HRK in 2017.
