PRAGUE: The Danish/French/Polish coproduction Apolonia, Apolonia directed by Lea Glob received the International Competition Jury Award for Best Film at the International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival One World, which wrapped in Prague on 30 March and in 28 other towns across the Czech Republic on 2 April 2023.

PRAGUE: The French/USA coproduction I Made a Mistake Coming Here by Kseniya Halubovich received the main award at the East Doc Platform. The largest coproduction, funding and distribution platform for Central and Eastern European documentaries was held in Prague 24 -30 March 2023.

TALLINN: Estonia’s coalition parties (the Reform Party, Estonia 200 and the Social Democrats) have agreed to tax streaming platforms and to invest the funds generated by the tax into Estonian film production.

CLUJ-NAPOCA: The 22nd Transilvania IFF has extended the deadline for submissions for its 10th international coproduction programme Transilvania Pitch Stop till 6 April 2023.

KVIFF Eastern Promises, the festival's Industry section, has just opened its submissions for the Works in Progress showcase and First Cut Lab workshop. The selected projects will be invited to participate in this year's KVIFF Eastern Promises Industry Days which will take place during this year's Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.

PRAGUE: The Silver Eye Award for the best long documentary of the East Silver Market at the East Doc Platform 2023 was given to We Will Not Fade Away directed by Alisa Kovalenko, a coproduction between Ukraine, France, Poland and the USA.

PRAGUE: Long documentaries and documentary series in development and early production stage can be submitted to Ex Oriente Film Workshop 2023 till 14 April 2023.

NICOSIA: The first pilot edition of Contemporary Animation Horizons, a series of workshops, screenings, masterclasses and exhibitions organised by Αnimafest Cyprus and the World Festival of First Animations PRIMANIMA, will be held in August and October 2023.

BUCHAREST: Romanian Palme d’or short film nominees Gabi Virginia Șarga and Cătălin Rotaru (4:15 p.m. The End of the World, 2016), are currently in postproduction with their sophomore feature Where Elephants Go / Unde merg elefanții.

LIMASSOL: International and Cypriot films up to 25 minutes in length can be submitted to the International Short Film Festival of Cyprus (ISFFC) till 15 June 2023. The festival will be held 7 – 13 October 2023 at the Rialto Theatre in Limassol.
