VENICE: FNE has teamed up with FIPRESCI critics attending the Venice Film Festival to rate the films in the Main Competition, Orizzonti, Venice Days and Critics Week giving the films 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 stars. 5 is the best and 1 is the worst. The ratings give an overview of critics’ opinions from a large number of countries and provide insights to what critics in many different countries think about the programme.

Romania 03-09-2024BUCHAREST: Emanuel Pârvu’s third feature film, Three Kilometers to the End of the World, has been selected by a committee of professionals appointed by the Romanian Film Centre as Romania’s candidate for the 97th Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences award in the Best International Feature Film category.
VILNIUS: Twelve short film projects from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and the guest country Croatia will take part in the 12th edition of the Baltic Pitching Forum (BPF), which will be held in Vilnius 8 – 11 October 2024.
VALLETTA: The British family adventure film The Magic Faraway Tree directed by Ben Gregor and starring Andrew Garfield, Claire Foy, Michael Palin and Rebecca Fergusson will shoot in Malta in the autumn of 2024, benefiting from the local 40% cash rebate system.
BUDAPEST: The third instalment of Now You See Me series is currently shooting in Budapest as cast members Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson and Morgan Freeman have been spotted in town.
SIBIU: Over 100 documentaries from all over the world have been selected for the 31st edition of the International Documentary Festival Astra Film, which will be held in Sibiu 20 – 27 October 2024.
The Slovenian Film Centre announced new production grants on 27 August 2024.
Most productions will be premiered in Sibiu. Early bird passes available until September 10th
MISKOLC: Thirteen titles including January 2 by Zsófia Szilágy and Vulture’s Wake by Szabolcs Hajdu have been selected for the Feature Film Competition of the CineFest Miskolc International Film Festival, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary from 6 to 14 September 2024.
HERCEG NOVI: The Serbian/Slovenian/Montenegrin/ Macedonian coproduction Guardians of the Formula directed by Dragan Bjelogrlić was awarded with the Golden Mimosa for the Best Film in the Feature Film Competition of the 37th edition of the Herceg Novi Film Festival.
