VALLETTA: Cinema City, a five day film event in the Maltese capital of Valletta, will showcase both international and Maltese producers at free outdoor screenings from 24 to 28 May.

dok.incubator announces four selected projects for the 2022 edition of the Czech workshop dealing with topics that reach far beyond the borders of the Czech Republic. The projects were brought to Prague for the first in-person session and started working on their goal - to be ready for cinemas in 2023.

This year’s Cannes Film Festival will take place from 17 to 28 May. With Fantasy, her first film in development, the Slovenian director Katarina Rešek – Kukla was selected as one of the six promising young directors to participate in the Residence programme, a part of the Cinéfondation programme.

WARSAW: Polish director Jerzy Skolimowski’s EO, which will screen in Competition in Cannes (17-28 May 2022), has been acquired by French distributor ARP Selection. HanWay Films is handling worldwide sales.

PRAGUE: The deadline for applications for films produced in 2021 and 2022 for the prestigious East Silver Market has been announced as 31 May. For projects in the rough cut stage the deadline is 31 July 2022.

VILNIUS: The documentary Mariupolis 2, shot by Lithuanian director Mantas Kvedaravičius before being captured and killed by the Russian troops in Mariupol, Ukraine, will have its world premiere in the Official Selection of the Cannes Film Festival (17-28 May 2022) on 19 May 2022.

WARSAW: Poland-based company MOMAKIN has launched a new educational project StopMoLab, which includes workshops, talks, case studies, mentoring and lectures for beginner stop-motion animation creators. Some lectures will be open to the public online.

BRUSSELS, NEW YORK – 11 May 2022: The International Union of Cinemas (UNIC) and the Film Expo Group are delighted to announce the recipients of the 2022 CineEurope Gold Awards, given to cinema professionals in recognition of their outstanding dedication and service to the sector. The Awards will be presented as part of the CineEurope Awards Ceremony on Thursday 23 June at the Centre de Convencions Internacional de Barcelona (CCIB) in Barcelona, Spain.
