LOS ANGELES: Gints Zilbalodis' Flow scooped two nominations at the Academy Awards 2025 in the categories of Best International Feature Film and Best Animated Feature Film. Croatian/Bulgarian/French/Slovenian The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent was nominated in the Live Action Short Film category.
RIGA: Gints Zilbalodis’s long animated film Flow, made as a coproduction between Latvia, Belgium and France, has had over 2 m admissions outside Latvia, according to the film's producer Matiss Kaza. It is also the first Latvian film to be nominated at the Oscars and to win a Golden Globe. The Golden Globe trophy is currently on display from 21 to 28 January 2025 at the Latvian National Museum of Art.
The feature film THE SEED OF THE SACRED FIG by Mohammad Rasoulof has been nominated for an Oscar® in the Best International Feature Film category. This was announced by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) on Thursday, January 23, 2025. This is the third time in a row that the German entry has entered the race for the Foreign Oscar®.
