TALLINN: Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event has opened accreditations for its main programme, which will be held in Tallinn 13 – 17 November 2023. The upcoming edition will introduce a new initiative, Just Film Industry Days designed for film professionals, industry experts and students.

VALLETTA: The Malta Film Commission has launched a 100,000 EUR grant for a single filmmaker to develop a 15-minute short film.

FNE has teamed up with FIPRESCI critics attending the Cannes Film Festival to rate the films in the Main Competition, Un Certain Regard, Directors' Fortnight and Critics Week, giving the films 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 stars. 5 is the best and 1 is the worst. The ratings give an overview of critics’ opinions from a large number of countries and provide insights into what critics in many different countries think about the programme.

BUCHAREST: The Romanian Government approved on 24 May 2023 an emergency ordinance for the re-start of the local cash rebate scheme, which had been officially launched in October 2018, halted in 2019, re-launched in August 2020, but has been inoperative since then.

WARSAW: Jesse Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin play two cousins discovering their Polish roots in A Real Pain directed by Eisenberg. Polish Extreme Emotions is coproducing.

VALLETTA: The American thriller Last Breath starring Woody Harrelson, Simu Liu, Finn Cole and Cliff Curtis is currently filming in Malta.

CANNES: The new Board of Directors of the European Film Promotion (EFP) was elected by EFP’s General Assembly at its meeting during the Cannes Film Festival. Markéta Santrochová, Head of Czech Film Center, was re-elected as EFP President.

CANNES: Sixteen documentaries have been selected by Doc Alliance, the creative partnership of seven European documentary festivals including the Ji.hlava International Documentary FF, for the Doc Alliance Award 2023. The announcement was made during the Doc Day of the Marché du Film in Cannes at the Cannes Film Festival on 23 May 2023.

BUDAPEST: Applications for the Visegrad coproduction forum and the Open programme of dok.incubator HU are still open till 26 May and 5 June 2023, respectively. dok.incubator HU will be held in Budapest 25 June – 2 July 2023.
