PRAGUE: Popular Prague art house cinema Kino Atlas closed as it couldn’t agree with the owners of the building for an extension of the lease contract.
TALLINN: The Estonian Film Institute has launched a new edition of a 1-minute film concept competition for Estonian filmmakers. The theme of 2023 is "Sign and mind". An expert jury will select up to 15 film ideas, which will receive a subsidy of 1,200 EUR, 20% more than in previous years.
BUCHAREST: The acclaimed Romanian film and theatre actor Teodor Corban has died at 65 due to illness. He was probably the actor most sought after by the Romanian New Wave directors and he starred in Radu Jude’s Aferim!, Radu Muntean’s One Floor Below and Corneliu Porumboiu ‘s 12:08 East of Bucharest.
BUCHAREST: Bogdan Mirică’s second feature film Boss is completed and will be released in Romania by Bad Unicorn on 21 April 2023. The film is a coproduction between Romania, Luxembourg and Sweden, produced by Corneliu Porumboiu. The sales agent is not known yet.

Region 17-01-2023BERLIN: Documentaries Between Revolutions by Romanian director Vlad Petri and In Ukraine by Polish directors Piotr Pawlus and Tomasz Wolski will have their world premiere in Berlinale Forum 2023. A Hungarian/Romanian series was selected for Berlinale Series, while a Serbian production, a Serbian minority coproduction and a Lithuanian production are in Berlinale Series Market.

TALLINN: The Estonian/Croatian animated film Eeva directed by Morten Tšinakov and Lucija Mrzljak will have its international premiere in the Berlinale Shorts competition within the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival (16 – 26 February 2023).
SARAJEVO: Documentary projects in advanced phase of editing can apply to the 13th edition of Docu Rough Cut Boutique till 20 January 2023. The programme is organised by the Sarajevo Film Festival and the Balkan Documentary Center.

PRAGUE: The awaited production of Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu will start in Prague on 23 February 2023, serviced by Stillking Films. The main cast consists of Bill Skarsgard, Lily-Rose Depp and Nicholas Hoult.
