LODZ: The first and only onsite module of the 2022 edition of the CEE Animation Workshop is currently taking place in Łódź, Poland  22 - 28 August 2022.

BUCHAREST: Austrian sales agent Square Eyes has picked-up Theo Montoya’s first long film Anhell69. A coproduction between Columbia, Romania, France and Germany, the hybrid fiction-documentary will have its world premiere in the 37th Venice Film Festivals’ International Critics Week (31 August – 10 September 2022).

PODGORICA: The 35th edition of the Herceg Novi - Montenegro Film Festival, which started on 22 August 2022, focuses on films from the region. The festival organises competitions for feature, documentary and student films.

BUCHAREST: A total of 21 international short films and five Romanian short films have been selected for the two competitions of the 8th edition of the Bucharest International Dance Festival (8 – 11 September 2022).

BUCHAREST: Romanian director Adrian Voicu is currently in postproduction with his first feature film Capturing Sami / Captura, which is produced by Axel Film, the company behind Immaculate by Monica Stan and George Chiper-Lillemark, winner of the Best Debut Film Award in Venice 2021. The Bulgarian company Contrast Films is coproducing.

VALLETTA: Maltese miniseries The Home Straight directed by Keith Tedesco has launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo in order to raise 40,000 EUR to secure locations, actors, crew and gear for the production.

COTTBUS: Projects in production or postproduction related to Eastern Europe in subject or production context can apply to cocoWIP until 24 August 2022. The 24th edition of connecting cottbus East-West coproduction market will be held in Cottbus, Germany 9 – 11 November 2022.

SARAJEVO: Safe Place / Sigurno mjesto by Juraj Lerotić, a Croatian coproduction produced in collaboration with Slovenia, received the Heart of Sarajevo for Best Feature Film at the 28th edition of the Sarajevo Film Festival (12-19 August 2022). Juraj Lerotić also received the award for best actor.
