Latvian film “Troubled Minds” will have World premiere at Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival’s First Feature Competition
Festivals 24-10-2021A dramedy “Troubled Minds” (dir. Raitis Abele and Lauris Abele) will have its World premiere at the Tallinn Black Nights Film festival, the First Feature Competition on the 20th of November. The film is selected together with other 20 debuts from the whole world.

Romania 22-10-2021BUCHAREST: Radu Jude’s 2021 Berlinale winner Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn / Babardeală cu bucluc sau porno balamuc has been selected as Romania’s candidate for the 94th Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences award in the Best International Feature Film category. The film is a coproduction between Romania, Luxembourg, the Czech Republic and Croatia.

Poland 22-10-2021WARSAW: The Polish minority coproduction Lamb directed by Valdimar Johansson has been selected as Iceland’s candidate for the 94th Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences award in the Best International Feature Film category. The film is a coproduction between Iceland, Sweden and Poland.
CLUJ-NAPOCA: The What’s Up, Doc? section of the Transilvania International Film Festival will become competitive in 2022 and open to international first or second documentaries of over 60 minutes.
NEW: the documentaries section becomes competitive
BRNO: Filip Remunda and Jakub Šipoš are among the guests of the 47th EKOFILM International Film Festival, which started in Brno on 20 October and will wrap on 23 October 2021. This year the main theme of the accompanying programme is Green Architecture.

We are happy to share with you 11 new European documentary projects in development, which will be presented at the Ji.hlava New Visions Forum on October 28–29.
The Forum will feature projects that include diverse genres and audiovisual formats – such as fiction films with documentary aspects, hybrid and experimental films, cinema expanded projects, virtual and augmented reality projects, and live documentaries. See their list here.

EKOFILM, a festival of environmental documentaries, starts tomorrow on 20 October 2021
Festivals 20-10-2021BRNO/CZ – Starting tomorrow, Brno will become the epicentre of environmental documentaries for four days. A delegation of filmmakers will be present at the screening of ten competing films at the 47th EKOFILM International Film Festival with an environmental theme. Filip Remunda, Joep van Dijk from the Netherlands and Jakub Šipoš from Slovakia are among personalities visiting the festival. The meeting with the filmmakers will be accompanied by a screening of two of the four non-competing films.
Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF) announces its full 2021 Official Selection lineup
Festivals 20-10-2021The festival’s main competition programme adds one new world premiere, ten international premieres and three European premieres to the six world premieres previously announced. Nineteen films will be screened in competition, with three films out of competition. It’s a packed lineup featuring a couple of legends, a raft of returning Black Nights favourites and several soon-to-be-stars, from all corners of the cinematic globe. Two international premieres will come to PÖFF after having their world premieres with our friends at Seville European Film Festival.
TALLINN: The Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, which celebrates its 25th anniversary in Tallinn and Tartu from 12 to 28 November 2021, has announced the rest of the films from the main competition, in addition to the first six titles announced in the first week of October 2021. In all, 19 films will compete for the main awards.
