The Croatian Audiovisual Centre (HAVC) has announced the following grants on 15 June 2023.

BUCHAREST: Raluca Turcan is the new Minister of Culture in Romania as a new coalition Government, led by PM Marcel Ciolacu, has been appointed. Turcan is replacing Lucian Romașcanu.

WARSAW: The 7th edition of Young Horizons Industry (former Kids Kino Industry) will showcase 26 projects from 4 to 6 October 2023. The international coproduction forum will be held on-site in Warsaw and online, within the Young Horizons International Film Festival (former Kids Kino IFF).

The 27th Ji.hlava IDFF revealed its poster. Its author is the award-winning illustrator Juraj Horváth.

American actress and director Robin Wright will be awarded the KVIFF President’s Award at the 57th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival’s closing ceremony. Find out more information here.

VILNIUS: Mumbai-based GoQuest Media has acquired the Lithuanian dramedy series Troll Farm / Trolių ferma directed by Ernestas Jankauskas and produced by Dansu Films.

VALLETTA: Cinemas in Malta and Gozo screened 376 titles and registered 460,244 total admissions in 2022.

CLUJ-NAPOCA: The Iranian production Like a Fish on the Moon by Dornaz Hajiha received the Transilvania Trophy at the 22nd edition of the Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF), which ran in Cluj-Napoca, Romania 9 – 18 June 2023. This year, TIFF displayed an impressively rich programme with new initiatives and sold out screenings of domestic films.

The Cypriot film IMAN, written and directed by Corinna Avraamidou and Kyriacos Tofarides, started its successful course when in 2018 the screenplay won 1st prize for Best Feature Film Screenplay at the Greek Screenwriters Guild Competition. The film  was produced by A.B. Seahorse Film Productions and was financed by the Cyprus Deputy Ministry of Culture and co-produced by the Cyprus Broadcastng Corporation. IMAN premiered at the Thessaloniki International Film Festival, last November and began its way to film festivals around the world.

BUCHAREST: The Gray House directed by Roland Joffe is currently shooting in Romania, serviced by Castel Film Studios. The miniseries is produced by Kevin Costner and Morgan Freeman, and stars Marie Louise Parker.
