BUCHAREST: Andreea Cristina Borţun, who took part in Cannes Directors’ Fortnight in 2021 with her short fiction film When Night Meets Dawn, is currently shooting her debut feature Blue Banks / Malul Vânăt. The film is a Romanian/French/Slovenian coproduction produced by Gabi Suciu through Atelier de Film.

CANNES: Restored 4K versions of The Lady from Constantinople (1969) by Hungarian director Judit Elek and Underground (1995) by Serbian director Emir Kusturica will screen in Cannes Classics and Cinéma de la Plage, respectively, at the 76th edition of the Cannes Film Festival (16 – 27 May 2023).

TALLINN: Madwomen - To Be a Sparrow Not a Canary directed by Sten Haljak and Johannes Lõhmus will have its premiere on 6 May 2023 in Tartu, the birthplace of Estonian cinema. The film celebrates the 111th anniversary of Estonian cinema by creating a story from film footage produced at Tallinnfilm and Eesti Telefilm between 1960 and 1969.
VALLETTA: The Malta Film Commission has announced the first edition of the Mediterrane Film Festival, which will run in Valletta 25-30 June 2023.
