21 projects selected for this special “out of the box” edition of the Trieste Co-Production Forum
VALLETTA: Luzzu directed by Alex Camilleri will be the first Maltese feature film to be presented in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition at the Sundance Film Festival, which will run from 28 January to 3 February 2021.
This week True Story, a collaborative project between the Institute of Documentary Film and Film New Europe, speaks to Serbian documentary maker Mladen Kovacevic, who speaks about his documentary Merry Christmas, Yiwu, a coproduction between Sweden, Serbia, France, Germany, Belgium and Qatar.
STRASBOURG: Coproductions from Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Hungary, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, and Slovenia are among the films receiving funding in the last batch of Eurimages grants in 2020. They include one documentary and one animated film, with amounts ranging from 60,000 EUR to 400,000 EUR.
COTTBUS: Ivan Tverdovskiy won the main prize at the 30th FilmFestival Cottbus for an unprecedented third time, this year for the Russian/Estonian/Italian/UK coproduction Conference.
BERLIN: Tomas Vinterberg’s Another Round won the European Film 2020 award at the European Film Awards, held on 12 December 2020. Alexander Nanau’s Romania/Luxembourg coproduction collective won the European Documentary 2020 award, and the Italian/Polish film Sole by Carlo Sironi won the European Discovery 2020 – Prix FIPRESCI.
