CLUJ-NAPOCA: The much awarded first documentary by Radu Ciorniciuc Acasă, My Home will screen in the Romanian Days competition at the 19th edition of the Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF), running in Cluj-Napoca from 31 July to 9 August 2020. This Romanian/Finnish/German coproduction was awarded the Cinematography Award in the World Cinema – Documentary competition at the Sundance FF 2020.

CLUJ-NAPOCA: So, What’s Freedom?, the sophomore feature by the Romanian-born US  based writer/director Andrei Zincă will screen in the Romanian Days section at the 19th edition of the Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF), running in Cluj-Napoca from 31 July to 9 August 2020. The film is a Romanian/USA coproduction.

CLUJ-NAPOCA: Twelve first and sophomore features by directors from around the world have been selected for the main competition of the 19th edition of the Transilvania International Film Festival. The festival was postponed from its initial dates to 31 July - 9 August 2020 and will take place exclusively in the open-air.

BUCHAREST: The DoP/producer/director Liviu Mărghidan is currently in production with his third feature film as a director. Refuge (working title) is an adventure drama whose shooting entails a high degree of risk but which is a balance of his passion for cinema with a passion for climbing. The shooting takes place at an altitude ranging from 1,600 to 2,000 meters with two children in the cast.

Since 2010 International festival of feature documentary film UnderhillFest represents a cross-section of very significant and artistically acclaimed documentaries. Respecting all the measures by the National coordination body for infectious diseases – from 16th to 23rd June 2020, audience in Podgorica had the opportunity to watch 19 films, different documentary stories, at the BC Buducnost in Njegos park as well as in the National library “Radosav Ljumović”.

In 2019, Moving Docs – a European partnership for the joint distribution of documentaries across Europe - ran an online survey of documentary audiences across Europe with the support of Creative Europe. 

Written by Dr Huw D Jones (University of Southampton, UK) and published in July 2020, the survey seeks to find out who watches documentaries and where, what kind of impact do they have, and how can we encourage people to watch more documentaries?

WARSAW: The 45th edition of the Polish Feature Film Festival in Gdynia will take place from November 9-14, 2020. Film screenings will take place without the participation of the audience.

"In order to meet the expectations of the film industry, the Organizing Committee of the Polish Film Festival unanimously decided to organize the 45th Polish Film Festival in Gdynia this year. The event will take place from November 9-14, 2020 in a hybrid form" the Polish Film Institute (www.pisf.pl) informed the media.

According to the new, preliminary concept, the competition films will be shown with the participation of journalists, but without the participation of the audience. The press conferences accompanying the projections with the participation of the creators will be broadcast online. The event was originally scheduled for September 2020, but the coronavirus pandemic forced the organizers to reschedule. Initially, the decision was made to move the festival to 2021, in June it was agreed that the 45th edition of the FPFF will take place in 2020.

On 1 May 2020, it was announced that Tomasz Kolankiewicz won the competition for the Artistic Director of the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia. This position was restored as part of the organizational reform of the festival, carried out as a result of extensive consultations with the Polish filmmakers community.
