BUDAPEST: A biopic of the legendary Maria Callas is set to start shooting in Hungary in October 2023, directed by Chilean director Pablo Larraín and starring Angelina Jolie. Budapest will stand-in for Paris.

BUCHAREST: London-based sales agent Reason8 Films has picked up Tudor Giurgiu’s new feature film as a director, Libertate, ahead of its screenings in the Competition Programme – Feature Film of the 29th Sarajevo Film Festival (11 – 18 August 2023). The film is a Romanian/Hungarian coproduction between Giurgiu’s Libra Film Productions and Mythberg Films.

Just one week left to submit to RIGA IFF FORUM – the deadline is 15 August! Submissions are open for both programmes – SHORT RIGA Test Screenings – a session where short films can get in-depth, professional feedback and RIGA IFF SHOWCASE – a pitching session for feature film and series projects. The festival’s annual industry section will take place from 19 to 21 October.

BERLIN: Film professionals interested in gaining a full perspective of running an arthouse cinema can apply to the 20th edition of CICAE’s annual Arthouse Cinema Training (ACT), which will be held in Berlin 30 October – 5 November 2023. The deadline for applications is 27 August 2023.
