VILNIUS: LIM (Less is More), the European development programme for limited budget feature films, has announced new partnerships with the Lithuanian Film Center and the Macedonian Film Agency, as well as Norway’s Film Institute. The two year old organisation has also opened a call for projects, with a deadline on 31 October 2018.

LJUBLJANA: The Slovenian family comedy Gaja’s World / Gajin Svet directed by Peter Bratusa opened at the number one spot at the domestic box office in Slovenia.

The Institute of Documentary Film interviews one of the leading Czech documentary directors, HelenaTrestikova.

BRATISLAVA: The Slovak cinema chain Cinemax will expand into Romania with plans to open its first two cinemas in Bucharest and Brasov.

BATUMI: Tatia Skhirtladze's The Encounter, a Georgian/Austrian/Serbian documentary about the reuniting of the winning Soviet Women’s Chess Team, started pre-shooting on 23 September 2018 in Batumi, Georgia, at this year’s World Chess Olympiad, where the women are guests of honour.

Several Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event projects from its different sections – B'EST EAVE workshops, Co-Production market, and Works in Progress – have been selected to the programmes of major festivals this year, winning awards at Karlovy Vary, Almaty, Odessa, Sochi, and Oostende film festivals.

BRATISLAVA: The Slovak/Czech/Russian drama The Cellar / Pivnica, directed by Igor Voloshin and starring Jean-Marc Barr, opened in the third spot in Slovakia.

MEDIA programme actively supports the training of professionals from new member countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Republic of Serbia, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia & Ukraine).

To this end, CARTOON encourages applications for scholarships to its CARTOON MASTERS. The next Cartoon Digital will be held in Ghent (Belgium) from 13th to 15th November 2018.
CARTOON will cover hotel (3 nights from 13th to 16th November) and meals, and refund up to a maximum of 200 EUR for transportation expenses.
