WARSAW: The Grand Prix of the 32nd Warsaw FF went to the Chinese film To Kill a Watermelon directed by Zehao Gao at the closing ceremony on 21 October 2017.

WARSAW: The Polish box office success, Botox directed by Patryk Vega, reached the number four spot in Ireland on its opening weekend, with 100,000 EUR and the number five spot at the UK box office overall with nearly 890, 000 EUR (which includes the Irish results).

LJUBLJANA: Contenders for Oscar best foreign film nominations Men Don’t Cry and Requiem for Mrs. J are among the 11 films competing in the Perspectives section of the 28th Ljubljana IFF, which runs 8 – 19 November 2017.

PRAGUE: Zana by Kosovo writer/director Antoneta Kastrati and producer Casey Johnson won the 8,000 EUR development award of MIDPOINT Feature Launch 2017. Nine Projects and 19 participants attended the final workshop held in Pisek, Czech Republic.

The 5th edition of “Giffoni Macedonia” Youth Film Festival will run October 18-23 in Skopje under the motto: “Into the magic world of cinema”. The opening ceremony took place on October 18 at Cinema Millennium at 07:30 pm, followed by the Macedonian premiere of the feature film “Hunting flies” by young, Norwegian-schooled director Izer Aliu.

The international jury including Claudia Landsberger, Jan Hryniak, Denis Ivanov, Eran Riklis and Ivica Zubak decided to award the Chinese production.

WARSAW: Polish public broadcaster TVP and CDRTV China’s TV Chengdu Radio & Television are coproducing an eight-episode documentary series about Polish and Chinese economic relations.
