BERLIN: Actors from Latvia, Slovenia, Romania and Poland are among the ten Shooting Stars 2017 announced by the European Film Promotion (EFP). The 20th Shooting Stars will be showcased during the 67th Berlin International Film Festival 2017 (9-19 February 2017).

VILNIUS: Liana Ruokytė-Jonsson was appointed Minister of Culture in Lithuania. She was previously the head of Department of Film Promotion, Information and Heritage in the Lithuanian Film Centre.

Jan Naszewski’s Polish sales outlet New Europe Film Sales announced that the popular programmer Marcin Łuczaj has joined the team of the Warsaw-based company as Acquisitons Executive and Head of Short Film Sales. He will represent New Europe at co-production markets and short film markets and coordinate the company’s acquisition efforts.
LOS ANGELES: German/Austrian/Romanian coproduction Toni Erdmann, directed by Maren Ade, was nominated for the Golden Globe in the Foreign Language Film category.
NICOSIA: Life Routes: Cyprus, a research project by five young people from Cyprus exploring spaces of everyday life, division and co-existence in their country, premiered in Nicosia on 12 December 2016.
