TALLINN: The Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF) announced the 15 films selected for the Baltic Competition. The festival will be held 11 – 27 November 2022.

Second round of calls for the EAVE Slate and Inspirational LABS!

TRIESTE: When East Meets West has launched the call for applications for the second edition of the EAVE Slate and also for its new Inspirational Labs. WEMW 2023 will take place 22 - 25 January 2023 within the Trieste Film Festival (21 – 30 January 2023).

Presenting the very best and freshest output from the festival’s home region, this year’s Baltic Competition programme includes one world premiere and four international premieres, along with a host of previously critically-acclaimed releases.

COTTBUS: Twelve films are running in the Feature Film Competition of the 32nd edition of FilmFestival Cottbus, taking place 8 – 13 November 2022. One of the world's leading forums for Eastern European cinema will screen 219 films from 48 countries.

LJUBLJANA: Ten films including Croatian/Slovenian Safe Place by Juraj Lerotić, Slovenian/Australian Moja Vesna by Sara Kern and the Czech minority coproduction Beautiful Beings by Guðmundur Arnar Guðmundsson will run for the Kingfisher Award in the Perspektives Competition of the 33rd Ljubljana International Film Festival (LIFFe, 9 – 20 November 2022).

RIGA: Godland by Hlynur Pálmason won the main prize in the Feature Film Competition of the 9th Riga International Film Festival, which took place in person and online 13 – 23 October 2022. Signe Baumane’s My Love Affair with Marriage received a Special Mention in the same competition programme.

LJUBLJANA: Slovenia’s National Assembly, one of the two bodies of the Parliament, has adopted amendments to the Copyright and Related Rights Act and the Collective Management of Copyright and Related Rights Act. Thus, Slovenia is preparing to become the 18th out of 27 EU member states which have implemented the EU Directive on Copyright in the Digital Single Market.

WARSAW: Pjer Žalica’s Bosnian/Croatian/Macedonian/Serbian coproduction May Labour Day, received the Warsaw Grand Prix in the International Competition of the 38th Warsaw Film Festival (14 – 23 October 2022). The Latvian/Italian coproduction Sisters / Māsas directed by Linda Olte won the main prize in the 1-2 Competition.

BERLIN: Three from the five titles nominated for the European Film Awards 2022 in the European Short Film category come from Slovenia, Czech Republic & Slovakia, and Lithuania. One Latvian majority coproduction was nominated in the European Animated Feature Film section.
