BUCHAREST: The Netflix series Wednesday Addams directed by Tim Burton and starring Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán and Jenna Ortega, is rumoured to start shooting in Romania in October 2021.
BUCHAREST: Immaculate / Imaculat, the debut feature by Monica Stan and George Chiper-Lillemark, has been acquired by Syndicado ahead of its world premiere in the Venice Days 2021 (1-11 September 2021).
HERCEG NOVI: Oasis by Ivan Ikić has been awarded the Grand Prix - Golden Mimosa at the 34th edition of the Herceg Novi Film Festival - Montenegro Film Festival. The Film Centre of Montenegro was again a partner of the festival.
PRAGUE: The Czech director/writer Simon Holy is in development with his second feature film, Thinking David, an LGBT/coming-of-age drama.
PODGORICA: Bojan Stijovic is in development with his feature debut Brothers / Braca, a drama written by the European Prize for Literature winner Stefan Boskovic.
PODGORICA: The Film Centre of Montenegro has distributed 798,000 EUR as production grants to feature films, films in production, minority coproductions, animated films and documentaries.
PRAGUE: Michael Caine, Ethan Hawke, Johnny Depp, and Jan Sverak will be honoured at the 55th edition of the Karlovy Vary IFF, taking place 20 – 28 August 2021.
The first feature film Man Without Guilt by the director and screenwriter Ivan Gergolet was shot at the border area between Slovenia and Italy. The film is scheduled for release and distribution in March 2022.
The story of personal revenge and redemption is set in Trieste, a city on the Adriatic coast, at the border between Italy and Slovenia. A 50-year-old widow working in a hospital discovers that her husband's former employer, who is partly responsible for her husband's death, has been admitted to the hospital because of a stroke. His son offers her a job as a caregiver, unaware of the connection between them. Seeking revenge, she decides to accept the offer.
