Transilvania International Film Festival (July 23 – August 1) launches Drama Room, a program dedicated to drama series creation and financing, aiming at building capacity locally and within the covered region. Drama Room is open to directors, producers and screenwriters interested in developing and producing series and mini-series and is open to participants from Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria, Serbia, Ukraine, Russia, Moldova, Greece, Turkey and Georgia.

The first edition of Drama Room will be a hybrid one and will take place between July 26-28, 2021. It will consist of a series of online tutoring sessions in collaboration with MIDPOINT Institute and a case-study, with the support of HBO Romania (a physical event during Transilvania IFF). The program will focus on providing the necessary informational toolkit to enable film professionals access to the drama world both financing and content creation.

Docu Talents from the East 2021 – selection announced!

Eight remarkable documentary projects in post-production from Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Russia and Slovakia made it to the 17th edition of Docu Talents from the East 2021. Since 2005, Docu Talents has served as a launchpad for a number of documentaries from the region of Central and Eastern Europe. The presentations will take place at Cinelink Industry Days at Sarajevo Film Festival on August 14–19. The most promising project will receive 5,000 USD cash prize in partnership with Current Time TV.

Antoneta Alamat Kusijanović’s debut feature Murina will have its world premiere at Directors’ Fortnight, a programme taking place 6th – 17th July and running in parallel to the 74th edition of the Cannes Film Festival. In addition, producer Bojan Kanjera will be participating in the Producers on the Move platform. Dalija Dozet will present her project My Dad’s Lessons as part of the Cannes Docs, organized during the Cannes Film Market, while the Croatian Audiovisual Centre will once again promote Croatian cinema at the Merché du Film.  

Cyprus is participating in Cannes with its traditional stand at the South East Europe pavilion in the International Village, represented by Diomidis Nikita.

FNE has teamed up with FIPRESCI critics attending the Cannes Film Festival to rate the films in the Main Competition, Un Certain Regard, Directors' Fortnight and Critics Week, giving the films 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 stars. 5 is the best and 1 is the worst. The ratings give an overview of critics’ opinions from a large number of countries and provide insights into what critics in many different countries think about the programme. FNE will be publishing updates each day from today until the end of the festival.

JIHLAVA: The Ji-hlava IDFF has selected eight documentary projects in postproduction to be presented at the 17th Docu Talents from the East @Sarajevo FF as part of the Cinelink Industry Days on 14–19 August 2021.

BRATISLAVA: The DOX IN VITRO workshop for young documentary producers and filmmakers is accepting applications for its two-day programme, scheduled to run 12 and 13 September 2021 in Piestany, Slovakia.

September 12 - 13, 2021.  Hotel Park Avenue, Piestany, Slovakia - DOX IN VITRO is aimed at young producers and documentary filmmakers who will be introduced to the „real world“ of the European film market and documentary films. The workshop will focus on the development of documentaries under the guidance of experienced tutors and emphasize the role and need of co-productions in today's documentary sector.
