Transilvania International Film Festival (July 23h – August 1st 2021) invites filmmakers to submit their projects to the newest edition of Transilvania Pitch Stop (TPS). The industry event will take place between July 29th – 31st 2021 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

WEMW and ROSKINO launch within KEY BUYERS EVENT a new programme for international projects looking for Russian minority co-production.

After the very successful ‘out of the box’ edition, WHEN EAST MEETS WEST is moving the first steps towards the 2022 edition and for the first time it will dedicate a special focus on Russia!

Thanks to the partnership with ROSKINO, a state body representing the Russian industry of audiovisual content in the international markets, the next edition of WEMW will offer a wide overview of Russian projects and talents, as well as the funding measures recently adopted by Russia to boost international co-productions.

Ost-Kiosk Outdoor Encounters and Streaming Instead of Caligari Screenings: goEast Brings Central and Eastern European Cinema to Online Audiences and Select Open-Air Events to the Rhine-Main Region

After the first hybrid baby steps last year at goEast – Festival of Central and Eastern European Film, hosted annually by DFF – Deutsches Filminstitut & Filmmuseum, the festival is poised to take an extensive foray into cyberspace this year. Almost all of the 92 films from 38 countries originally planned for an in-person version of the festival will be available for the German festival audience on-demand, including 32 German and two international premieres. In between films, the festival organisers are inviting virtual attendees to stop by the Ost-Kiosk in front of Wiesbaden's Nassauischer Kunstverein, in order to experience a tiny bit of festival flair in person again – while observing proper hygiene protocols and social distancing.

The American Film Festival has named Urszula Śniegowska as its new director while Marcin Pieńkowski will take over as director of the New Horizons International Film Festival. Both new directors assumed the functions from festival founder, Roman Gutek, who remains president of the New Horizons Association and who will continue his involvement in programming both events.

Three Estonian co-productions are set to premiere at this years’ Moscow International Film Festival. Directorial debut features Goodbye, Soviet Union by Lauri Randla and Firebird by Peeter Rebane are chosen for the programme „Russian Trace“. The former had it’s world premiere at the A-list Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, followed by screenings at Tromsø IFF and Cleveland IFF, the latter had its start at London’s oldest LGBTQ+ film festival BFI Flare. Winner of the Baltic Film Competition at Tallinn Black Nights, director Veiko Õunpuu’s The Last Ones, is screening in the „Masters“ programme at Moscow.

For the first time Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF) is joining the well established Marché du Film showcase "Goes to Cannes" with an aim to present 5 international film projects in post-production stage at the Marché du Film in July.
