EFP's networking programme PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE will take place as originally planned from 11 to 15 May, 2020, and independently of the Cannes Film Festival which has been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. 20 selected up-and-coming European producers will meet online this year and present their projects in speed meetings and roundtable sessions. A case study as well as talks with experts will round out the digital programme running over five days.

WARSAW: The XIV Krzysztof Kieślowski ScripTeast Award for the Best Script from Eastern Europe went to the multiple-award-winning Polish screenwriter and director Maciej Sobieszczański and co-writer Grzegorz Puda for the script entitled Brother. The awards, usually a champagne gala affair held annually on the beach during Cannes Film Festival, took place for the first time online this year on 20 May 2020.

The web-doc was previously awarded by highly prestigious international competitions such as Golden Drum (two bronze medals), Webstock (Best Video Use), and nominated at Cannes Lions in three categories. The project was launched in selected cinemas, schools and museums, reaching a multitude of trans-generational audiences.
Baltic Pitching Forum 2020: new call for short film projects and the guest country Poland
Press releases 19-05-2020Baltic Short Film Project Pitching Event „Baltic Pitching Forum” announces its new call for short film projects. This year a Guest Country of the Forum will be Poland. The event will invite twelve short film projects – three from each Baltic country of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and three from Poland — to come and pitch in front of a panel of invited experts. The eighth edition of the Baltic Pitching Forum will take place in Vilnius, Lithuania on 8th-10th October 2020. Application deadline – 2nd of August.
TIFF PRESENTS THE PROJECT “SPACES” WITH SHORT FILMS, SHOT AT HOME, BY ACCLAIMED DIRECTORS

Thessaloniki International Film Festival presents the project “Spaces”. TIFF has asked renowned directors from all over the world to shoot a short film at home, during the coronavirus crisis. Thus far, 14 directors have confirmed their participation, but the list is getting longer. “Spaces” is one of the first works of art commissioned as a response to the coronavirus situation.

The preparations for the 24th Ji.hlava IDFF are underway, while we closely follow the developments related to the current crisis. In the meantime, we look forward to receiving your films! You can submit feature-length and short films, animated and interactive documentaries. The films premiered and awarded at Ji.hlava are eligible for the European Film Academy Awards as well as Oscar® consideration. Check the deadlines now.
Please note that the deadline for free-of-charge submissions of feature films is 31st May. From 1st June features will be accepted as late entries and the late entry fee PLN 300 applies. The final deadline for feature films is 30th June.
VILNIUS: Lithuania permits the continuation of film production that was suspended on 16 March 2020, along with the re-opening of cafes and other businesses as of 18 May and the gradual resumption of international flights.
