WARSAW: Magnus von Horn’s sophomore feature Sweat has been acquired by the streaming platform MUBI for USA, Latin America, India and Turkey. This Polish/Swedish coproduction was selected in Cannes 2020 Official Selection. The Warsaw-based New Europe Film Sales is handling the sales.
BUDAPEST: The Upthrown Stone (1968) by Sándor Sára and Late Season by Zoltán Fábri have been selected in 2020 Cannes Classics and Venice Classics of the 73th Cannes Film Festival and the 77th Venice IFF. Almost 100 Hungarian classic films have been restored so far within the programme launched by the National Film Institute (NFI) in 2017.

PRAGUE: The Institute of Documentary Film launches a brand new programme for docu-series focused on consultations and networking, connecting three European film markets. The first session of the East Doc Series will take place online as part of Baltic Sea Docs in 2 and 7-8 September 2020.
Polish Days – the most important industry event of New Horizons IFF, co-organized by the Polish Film Institute and The Ministry of Culture and National Heritage has just ended.
Over 170 guests from Poland and abroad watched the latest Polish projects in all stages of production, including completed films and fragments of films in postproduction as well as took part in presentations of projects in development online. The best projects were awarded.
Screen International’s Best Pitch Award, which includes the coverage of the lifecycle of the winning project in the Works in Progress showcase, went to Prime Time directed by Jakub Piątek (production: Watchout Studio). Screen International will follow the winning film throughout its production and release phases.

The Institute of Documentary Film launches the East Doc Series – a brand new programme for documentary series focused on consultations and networking, connecting three European film markets. The first session will take place online as part of Baltic Sea Docs (September 2 & 7 – 8, 2020), the second part will be held within East Doc Platform in Prague (March 6 – 12, 2021), while the final session will take place at Sunny Side of the Doc in La Rochelle (June 21 – 24, 2021). The call for the first session is open until August 10, 2020.

The 14th edition of Sarajevo Talents welcomes 62 prospective actors, cinematographers, directors, editors, film critics, producers, and screenwriters from South-Eastern Europe and South Caucasus. Among them are eight Croatian professionals. Talents Sarajevo will be held entirely online, from 14th to 18th August.
This year's program is being held under the name 'New Beginnings', and more than a third of all the candidates come from Greece (16), Romania (10), and Croatia (8). 62 industry professionals from 14 countries were selected for participation in the program. This year, the promising filmmakers come from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, and Turkey.
The world premiere of the Slovenian minority coproduction Oasis at the Venice festival
Press releases 29-07-2020This year, the Venice Film Festival will take place from 2 to 12 September. The Slovenian minority coproduction Oasis, directed by the Serbian director Ivan Ikić, will have its world premiere in the context of the Venice Days (Giornate degli Autori) programme. A total of 11 films were selected for this programme, aimed at encouraging original and innovative film expression of authors from all over the world. Oasis is the director’s second feature fiction, while his debut Barbarians (2014) won the Special Jury Prize at the Karlovy Vary IFF.
