The closing night of Making Waves: New Romanian Cinema on December 5th was dedicated to the screening of the most talked about Romanian movie of the year, Beyond the Hills, with lead actresses Cristina Flutur and Cosmina Stratan in attendance. The Film Society of Lincoln Center's Walter Reade Theater proved to be too small a venue for the unprecedented number of fans of Romanian cinema who hoped extra tickets would be available. They will have to wait for the American release in March 2013.

Trieste, December 20, 2012 – A total of 22 international projects from 11 countries will participate in the third edition of the Trieste-based co-production forum When East Meets West, one of the important platforms for successful co-productions between Western and Eastern Europe. WEMW’s 2013 roster will include 12 fiction and 10 documentary features.
Now that scouting trips to find films for the Panorama have been concluded, viewings in Berlin are in full swing. “A third of the programme has already been selected,” reports Panorama director Wieland Speck. “Alongside works by European filmmakers, such as Lars Kraume and Felix van Groeningen, films from Asia – and especially from Korea – have made a deep impression.
With 146 applications coming from 46 different countries, we are delighted to announce the participants for the EAVE 2013 European Producers Workshop: 51 promising producers from 32 countries have finally been selected for 2013. Out of the selected producers, 33 are bringing a project to EAVE (of which 5 documentaries).
MOSCOW: More than 20 films in production and post-production from Belarus, Bulgaria, Hungary, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Russia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine and Croatia will be presented to international film professionals during Red Square Screenings, taking place 15-20 October 2012.
