PULA: The 58th Pula Film Festival awarded its main prize, the Grand Golden Arena, to Kotlovina directed by Tomislav Radic in its National Competition for Croatian film. The film also won awards for Best Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Sound. The film was produced by Zagreb based Korugva Film and Croatian TV and was selected from among a competion of 10 new Croatian films. The winner of the Audience Award was Koko and the Ghosts directed by Danijel Kusan and produced by Kinorama (www.kinorama.hr) and coproduced by Croatian TV. The film was the first Croatian film to receive MEDIA backing.
WARSAW: The team behind the award-winning Rabbit a la Berlin has begun shooting the concept documentary Six Degrees, which takes a literal and exploratory look at the theory that everyone is connected via only six degrees of separation.

AnimaCampus Tallinn is a brand new networking platform and training event for up-and-coming young filmmakers working in the field of animation. The five-day creative summit takes place in parallel with the Animation Film Festival Animated Dreams, the sub-festival of Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival.
In the frame of several lectures, presentations, discussions, screenings and workshops international animation experts share their experience in making cinéma d'auteur animation films as well as commercial productions. A mix of animation art and industry. A mix of traditional animation techniques and new media technologies. AnimaCampus Tallinn provides young professionals from East and West the opportunity to learn from top animation experts and build international networks in the inspiring European Capital of Culture atmosphere.
PROGRAMME
The programme of AnimaCampus Tallinn consists of the following activities:
Inspiration talks:
- Lectures, presentations and panel discussions to address the breaking issues in the animation history and today. * Open to all participants, guests and public.
Hands-on trainings:
- Practical workshops, case studies and meeting-the-expert sessions in different fields of work promoting direct interaction between young and experienced professionals. * Open to participants and guests.
Mentoring and guidance:
- Specialized master classes. * Open only to participants.
- Individual project consultations. * Open only to participants.
Networking and entertainment:
- Film screenings at the Animation Film Festival Animated Dreams.
- Excursions to Estonian animation studios and Museum of Puppets.
- Match-making sessions.
- Social events and concerts in the evenings.
REGIONS IN FOCUS
In 2011 AnimaCampus Tallinn is setting its focus on the following regions: Nordic countries (Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Iceland), Baltic states (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania), South Caucasus (Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan) and Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan). Emerging animation filmmakers from the above mentioned countries are eligible to apply through the open call for entries. However, motivated applicants from the other European countries wishing to explore the animation scene in those regions are also encouraged to send their application.
WHO CAN APPLY?
- Young animation professionals or advanced students (age up to 35), who are fluent in English.
- Filmmakers with different professional backgrounds are welcome to apply. It doesn't matter whether you are a director, producer, animator, sound designer, scriptwriter, cinematographer, production designer, effects designer or multi-talented visual artist - if animation is your passion, you are eligible to apply!
HOW TO APPLY?
The application consists of two parts:

2) Submit the following materials by regular post:
- CV & filmography (max 1 page / on CD)
- Personal motivation letter (max 1 page / on CD)
- Photo of the applicant (on CD)
- Sample of work (approx 3 minutes / on DVD).
The work sample can be a short film, excerpt or series of clips from previous work. Please state clearly in the beginning of the clip, which was your input to the chosen piece of work.

PARTICIPATION FEE, SCHOLARSHIPS & ACCOMMODATION
Participation fee is 100€ for students and 150€ for young professionals.
AnimaCampus Tallinn offers 75 selected participants Part Scholarship covering the accommodation and meals. The rest of participants have to cover the costs of accommodation and meals themselves.
A limited number of participants receive Full Scholarship covering the participation fee, accommodation and meals. Applicants with limited financial means and/or from South Caucasus and Central Asia are preferred in this case. To apply for Full Scholarship, please fill in the appropriate field on the online application form and explain shortly in your motivation letter the reason you believe you are eligible.
AnimaCampus Tallinn does not cover travel expenses for the participants.
SELECTION OF PARTICIPANTS
AnimaCampus Tallinn organisers in co-operation with regional partners will select participants based on their application and work example. The final selection will be made by the end of August and published on AnimaCampus website. All the applicants will be notified by e-mail.
GUEST ACCREDITATION
Representatives of animation industry, festivals and schools can apply for Guest Accreditation, which gives the access to AnimaCampus public events as well as the Animation Film Festival Animated Dreams screenings. Accreditation forms will be available in September.

On the 1st of July 2011 Poland will take over the presidency of the Council of the European Union. In the framework of the Presidency's cultural programme, Dragon Forum organizes the Polish Academy of Document in Kiev, Minsk and Moscow. Three sessions, each five days long, will consists of workshops for young documentary filmmakers from Ukraine, Belarus and Russia, open film screenings and meetings with exceptional filmmakers and producers, as well as conferences of documentary creators on the art of documenting reality, international film market and cinematography organization.

London Film Academy teams up with the Wrocław-based event on the programming and sponsorship side.
The New Horizons IFF is the biggest film festival in Poland. The 11. Edition will take place in Wrocław, Poland on 21-31 July 2011.
London Film Academy (www.londonfilmacademy.com) is an innovative film school offering professional training in all key areas of film & TV with working industry experts.
LFA partnered with the festival on its key training event for young filmmakers - the 2. New Horizons Studio (23-26 July). During this three-day workshop the participants take part in sessions on pitching, international promotion, production, networking and world film sales. Thanks to LFA, the event will feature lectures by BAFTA-winning writer-director Richard Kwietniowski (writing and directing), executive producer Ri Chakraborty (pitching), and producer Ivana MacKinnon (producing). Other acclaimed speakers include Juliette Jansen (Rotterdam IFF), Anais Clanet (Wide Management), Beata Mońka (Canal+) and Hugo Viera da Silva (Swans). A special Masterclass will be given by the Hungarian director Bela Tarr (Satan Tango, Turin Horse).
LFA is also sponsoring the European Debut Shorts Competition by awarding the London Film Academy Award for Best European Debut Short. The director of the winning film will be awarded a full scholarship on one of LFA's Specialised Courses and accommodation for the duration of their course.
The Polish Film Institute has announced grants for 22 films, for a total of PLN 10 million. Included are production grants for four feature films, six documentary films, and one animation film.
The short film Do You Have a Story? by Dario Juričan, produced by Blank filmski inkubator, was included in the competition programme of the 64th International Film Festival in Locarno (3-13 August 2011, Italy), where it will participate in the short-film programme Leopardi of Tomorrow (Concorso Pardi di domani).
Do You Have a Story? is a one-take film that follows a sexual and emotional cat-and-mouse play between a man and a woman in bed. The film is a result of 10 months of improvising with actors Ivana Krizmanić and Bojan Navojec, and, as the film cast and crew say, the ‘story got to work only when they decided to be brutally honest and invest high stakes in the film’. The film premiered at the Croatian Film Days, where it was commended for its courageous approach to the subject, while the jury especially highlighted Bojan Navojec’s role.
Director Dario Juričan graduated at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb and got further education at the London Film Academy. He currently works as a director and producer in Blank_filmski inkubator association and publishes the film magazine Filmonaut.
The International Film Festival in Locarno is an A-festival with a long tradition, whose programmes support works by up-and-coming film talents. Through more than six decades of existence it acquired the reputation of a “discovering festival” that presented filmmakers such as Fatih Akin, Paul Thomas Anderson and François Ozon through the programme Leopardi of Tomorrow.
The participation of Do You Have a Story? in the programme also entails a pre-selection nomination for an Academy Award in the best short film category and European Short Film Award.
Cinema City received the award 'The Company of the Year 2011' from The Polish Association of Individual Investors

Cinema City received the award 'The Company of the Year 2011' from The Polish Association of Individual Investors.
During the 15th edition of WallStreet in Zakopane, Cinema City
International was awarded the honor of 'Company of the year 2011' by the
Polish Association of Individual Investors. The prize was awarded for
best investor relations for the Polish retail investors and in
appreciation for the track record of years of first class communications
of our company directed to retail investors in Poland.
'We are proud of this important award. The schedule of our
communications over the years included presentations and meetings with
individual investors, who are a prominent part of the Polish investor
community', said Joanna Kotłowska, Head of Investor Relations of Cinema
City, the largest multiplex cinema operator in Central & Eastern
Europe and in Israel. 'Thanks to our communications we have build up a
group of investors tracking the company developments. Many of these
investors are also among the customers visiting our theatres across the
country.'
The title 'Company of the year' was awarded for the first time by Polish
Association of Individual Investors on the basis of polls among retail
investors active in WSE. The honor was awarded during 'WallStreet' -
the largest individual investor focused conference in Poland, which
took part in Zakopane.
Cinema City International NV is listed at the Warsaw Stock Exchange

are included in mWIG40 and WIG-MEDIA indices.

Six short films from Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, Poland and United Kingdom will compete for the Cartoon d'Or 2011, the award for the best European animation short film.
The jury composed of directors and producers Stéphane Bernasconi
(France), Tony Loeser (Germany) and Victor Maldonado (Spain) have
selected the finalists among a shortlist of 30 films award-winners at
the major European animation festivals.
The nominees are:

- "Paths of Hate" by Damian Nenow (Poland, 2010, 10'. Prod: Platige Image)

The winner will be announced on Thursday 15 September 2011 in Sopot (Poland) during Cartoon Forum Polska,
the platform aimed to boost the co-production and distribution of
European animation for television. The directors of each nominated short
will present his film to an auditorium of key players in European
animation, providing them an opportunity to strengthen their ties with
the industry. The winner will receive a trophy together with a financial
aid of 10,000 EUR, thanks to the support of the MEDIA Programme of the
European Union.
The Cartoon d'Or was created in 1991 by CARTOON in order to promote
the talents of European animation and to act as a pipeline between short
film makers and the industry. Previous winners include Nick Park,
Sylvain Chomet, Mark Baker, Michael Dudok de Wit and Jacques-Rémy
Girerd.

co-production and distribution of European animation for television and
new media platforms, Cartoon Forum has helped 450 animation series
obtain financing to the tune of over 1.5 billion EUR. For three days
each year, European producers have the opportunity to pitch their
