BUDAPEST: The first English-language film by Hungarian director Lili Horvát is a sci-fi romance starring Andrew Scott and Greta Lee. My Notes on Mars is due to shoot in Budapest and Vienna in the spring of 2025.

RIGA: Projects from Bulgaria, Lithuania, Latvia, Georgia, Romania, Germany and Kazakhstan are among the winners of the 28th edition of the Baltic Sea Docs documentary pitching forum, which was held in Riga 1 – 8 September 2024.

FNE together with German Films have launched the Year of German Central European Films 2024 with a special focus on German films in Central and Eastern European countries plus Cyprus and Malta and FNE partner countries’ films screening in Germany.

From September 12–15, Klaipėda will be shaken by the tenth Animation and Video Game Festival BLON. The festival’s program will feature exclusive works of animation, virtual reality (VR), and video games from around the world, including an animated film from the Philippines and VR works by Lithuanian creators. The organizers promise a diverse program, ensuring that everyone will find something to watch.

The 28th edition of the Baltic Sea Docs documentary pitching forum concluded in Riga after a week of workshops, seminars, pitching sessions and film screenings. Held on 1-8 September, the forum featured 26 documentary projects from the wider Baltic Sea region, Eastern Europe, and the Caucasus, providing an important platform for creative documentary filmmakers to present their work to key industry professionals.

VENICE: FNE has teamed up with FIPRESCI critics attending the Venice Film Festival to rate the films in the Main Competition, Orizzonti, Venice Days and Critics Week giving the films 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 stars. 5 is the best and 1 is the worst. The ratings give an overview of critics’ opinions from a large number of countries and provide insights to what critics in many different countries think about the programme.

KLAIPĖDA: The 10th edition of the Animation and Video Game Festival BLON, which will be held in the Lithuanian town of Klaipėda 12 – 15 September 2024, is promising a rich and diverse programme featuring works of animation, VR and video games from around the world.

TBILISI: The countries eligible for the Black Sea '24 Animation Workshop, which will be held in Tbilisi 26 – 30 November 2024, include this year Ukraine, Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey and Georgia.

Inviting the audiences to revel in a magnificent short film celebration in October, Riga International Film Festival (RIGA IFF, 17–27 October) announces the contestants of the international and national short film competitions.
