LJUBLJANA: Cineplexx Ljubljana was awarded as best new built cinema of the year at the International Cinema Technology Association’s (ICTA) 2023 Awards.

PRAGUE: The Czech/Slovak/Polish/Serbian coproduction Restore Point / Bod obnovy by Robert Hloz was sold by XYZ Films to Germany, Switzerland, France, Scandinavia, Australia and New Zealand at the Cannes’ Marché du Film, where it was selected among the Fantastic 7 genre films.

FOUR SOULS OF COYOTE competes for the Annecy Crystal, while in Contrechamp competition, WHITE PLASTIC SKY, TOLDI and Czech-Slovak-Hungarian co-production TONY, SHELLY AND THE MAGIC LIGHT will be on show.

ZAGREB: Croatian director Dražen Žarković (My Grandpa Is an Alien) is currently shooting Salsa / Šalša, a comedy with horror elements supported by the Croatian Audiovisual Centre (HAVC) and HRT.

VALLETTA: British chef and TV presenter Ainsley Harriot is currently shooting for his ITV series Ainsley’s Fantastic Flavours in Malta.

KARLOVY VARY: Nine world and two international premieres have been selected for the Crystal Globe Competition of the 57th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, which will take place 30 June – 8 July 2023.

VILNIUS: The European Film Forum Scanorama has launched an open call for its European short film competition Glimpses of Europe. The 21st edition of the European Film Forum Scanorama will be held in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda and Šiauliai 9 – 19 November 2023.

BUDAPEST: Johnny Depp’s Amedeo Modigliani biopic Modi starring Riccardo Scamarcio, Pierre Niney and Al Pacino, will start shooting in Budapest in the autumn of 2023. Proton Cinema will handle the shooting in Hungary.

TALLINN: Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event has opened accreditations for its main programme, which will be held in Tallinn 13 – 17 November 2023. The upcoming edition will introduce a new initiative, Just Film Industry Days designed for film professionals, industry experts and students.
