VENICE: FNE together with FIPRESCI have invited FIPRESCI critics in Venice to rate the films in all four of the official competition programmes of the festival giving the films 1,2,3,4 or 5 stars. The ratings give an overview of the critics’ opinions from a large number of countries and provide insights to what critics in many different countries think about the programme.

SIBIU: The 23rd edition of ASTRA Film Festival, one of the most important documentary showcases in Eastern Europe, will run in Sibiu from 17 to 23 October 2016 with eight titles in the main competition and ten in the Central-Eastern European competition.
SOFIA: Action/Adventure Category 5 by Rob Cohen (The Fast and the Furious, Mummy 3) started shooting on location in Bulgaria on 29 August 2016. Shooting will wrap in 11 weeks-time and will be followed by another week in the UK.
MEDIAS: Son of Saul by László Nemes was awarded Best Film of the 6th edition of Mediaş Central European Film Festival (MeCEFF). The festival, which took place from 1 to 3 September 2016, is the only festival in Romania dedicated to films from CEE.
WROCŁAW: Marcin Pieńkowski succeeded Joanna Łapińska as the artistic director of T-Mobile New Horizons International Film Festival on 1 September 2016.

WROCŁAW: Aferim!, Body and The High Sun are among the 12 films nominated for the EFA People’s Choice Award. This year’s ballot has started and film fans across Europe can now vote for their favourite film. The winner will be announced during the European Film Awards Ceremony on 10 December 2016 in Wrocław.
