WEMW launches First Cut Lab, a new tailor made workshop for features in editing phase
Region 10-11-2014On the occasion of its forthcoming 5th edition, When East Meets West launches First Cut Lab (FCL), a programme designed for long feature films in the editing phase from Eastern Europe and Italy. Selected producer/director teams will work together with top festival programmers, sales agents, creative producers and editors, and will go through an intense process centred on their films embracing a variety of issues such as storytelling and rhythm in editing, festival strategy, marketing plans and audience focus.
PRAGUE: The Polish/Danish film Ida will take home one award and is nominated in another four categories of the European Film Academy awards which will be held in Riga on 13 December 2014.

WARSAW: The Japanese historical drama Persona Non Grata is completing production in Poland. The film was shot entirely in Poland with Polish cities standing in for Berlin, Kaunas, Moscow, Tokyo, New York, Klaipeda and Bucharest.

Black Nights’ inaugural International competition brings record number of premieres to Tallinn
Festivals 04-11-2014The 18th Black Nights film festival beginning on the 14th November will present 18 worldwide entries in the main competition, among them a record-breaking number of International and European premieres. The competition programme presents a remarkable variety of film cultures.
The 20th Vilnius International Film Festival “Kino Pavasaris” officially started its promotional campaign by unveiling the first program of the jubilee festival – Leos Carax retrospective. His film “Holy Motors” was screened on the 1st of November at Vilnius cinema centre “Forum Cinemas Vingis”. The screening was followed by the Q&A with the director Leos Carax and Lithuanian philosopher and screenwriter Kristupas Sabolius.
VILNIUS: Three Lithuanian films will have their premieres at the Scanorama European Film Festival which kicks off its four city tour in Vilnius on 6 November 2014 and runs through 23 November.
