Two out of three main awards of the 20th anniversary edition of Sarajevo Film festival went to Croatian entries: the best short fiction film is The Chicken by Una Gunjak, and the best documentary film is Naked Island by Tiha K. Gudac. A special mention in documentary competition went to Happily Ever After by Tatjana Božić, whereas industry programmes gave their awards to A Two Way Mirror by Katarina Zrinka Matijević Veličan and Our Everyday Life by Ines Tanović.

FIAPF greenlights the creation of a fully-fledged international competition for Black Nights Film Festival
Festivals 28-08-2014Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival will be accredited as a non-specialized competitive festival from 2014 as confirmed by FIAPF - The International Federation of Film Producers’ Associations. Black Nights Film Festival is the 15th international film festival to be inducted to that category by FIAPF along with the expansion of the so far specialized EurAsia competition programme to filmmakers from all around the world.
Today marks the world premiere of “The Lesson”,the debut art film of Latvian director Andris Gauja. The film is taking part in the First Films World competition at the Montreal World Film Festival (FFM) at 19:00 local time, with 18 films entered in the category. The only other full-length film to represent Latvia in this festival was the 1998 Laila Pakalniņa film "Kurpe".
FNE together with FIPRESCI have invited FIPRESCI critics in Venice to rate the feature films in the official programme of 71st Venice Film Festival (2014) giving the films 1,2,3,4 or 5 stars - 5 is the best and 1 is the worst. The ratings give an overview of the critics’ opinions from a large number of countries and provide insights to what critics in many different countries think about the programme. Tiha Klara Gudac won the Heart of Sarajevo documentary award for Naked Island.

BUDAPEST: London-based producer Steve Matthews was named Executive Producer, Drama Development with HBO Europe Original Productions. He takes up his new position as of 1 September 2014.
