SKOPJE: The North Macedonia Film Agency has started an initiative to single out the women who have excelled in the Macedonian film industry in 2021. Actresses Teuta Ajdini Jegeni, Sara Klimoska and Antonija Belazelkoska, directors Marija Apcevska, Dina Duma, Petra Seliskar, Teona Strugar Mitevska, Tamara Kotevska, and producer and actress Labina Mitevska make up the list of the first-ever inclusion initiative.

SKOPJE: Macedonian company SVOD Master D.O.O has launched a new national VOD platform Gley.mk in North Macedonia. The platform offers a wide range of local, regional and international films, and children's programmes, translated and dubbed into Macedonian and Albanian.

SKOPJE: The German/Finish coproduction The Other Side Of The River directed by Antonia Killian has received the Best Film Award at 6th edition of the KineNova International Film Festival, which took place from 27 to 31 October 2021. The award for Best Director went to Stefan Arsenijević for As Far as I Can Walk / Strahinja Banović, a coproduction between Serbia, France, Luxembourg, Bulgaria and Lithuania.

SKOPJE: Eight films from nine countries will be shown in the International Competition of the 6th edition of the KineNova International Film Festival, set to take place from 27 to 31 October 2021. The festival will be held in a hybrid format combining screenings at two venues and broadcasting on TV24.

SKOPJE: The Macedonian Government has removed the 30 percent restriction on cinema halls and allowed up to 50 percent of indoor audiences, as the COVID-19 spread has eased across the country over the past month.

BITOLA: Jani-Petteri Passi, the cinematographer of the Finnish/German/Estonian/Russian coproduction Compartment No 6 / Hytti No 6 by Juho Kuosmanen, received the Golden Camera 300 at the 42nd edition of the International Cinematographers' Film Festival Manaki Brothers. The festival took place in Bitola from 16 to 21 September 2021.

BITOLA: The 42nd edition of the International Cinematographers Film Festival Manaki Brothers kicks off in Bitola on 16 September 2021. Headed by new director Simeon Moni Damevski, the festival will be held in person, two days shorter than its usual course, following strict protocols for protection against COVID-19, including vaccination certificates and negative PCR tests.

SKOPJE: The Norwegian/Iranian/Swiss documentary Radiograph of a Family directed by Iranian filmmaker Firouzeh Khosrovani won the Onion Award for best film in the main competition of the 12th edition of MakeDox Creative Documentary Film Festival. The festival took place in four physical locations in Skopje as well as online from 19 to 26 August 2021.

SKOPJE: More than 70 documentary films in five competition programmes will be screened at the 12th Festival for Creative Documentary Film MakeDox, which kicked off in Skopje on 16 August 2021. Distribution and promotion of documentary films is the main theme of the festival, which expects to host around 30 guests from abroad.

SKOPJE: The North Macedonia Film Agency distributed 1,160,975 EUR / 71,400,000 MKD within the first grant call deadline in 2021 for production grants for feature, short, animation films, and documentaries. The Agency supported two debut feature films as majority productions, four minority coproductions, two majority long documentaries, two minority long documentaries, and eleven short films.
