BUCHAREST: Tudor Giurgiu is currently working on Sibiu ’89, a feature film set in the city of Sibiu in December 1989, during the fall of the Communism. The project is a Romanian/Hungarian coproduction between Giurgiu’s Libra Film Productions and Mythberg Films.

BUCHAREST: Italian director/scriptwriter Elena Rebeca Carini is currently in production with her long documentary The Land You Belong, whose shooting started in November 2021. This Italian/Romanian coproduction received a grant of 65,000 EUR from Eurimages at its last call in December 2021.
PRODUCTION: Sharon Bar-Ziv Wraps Shooting on Slovenian/Israeli/German Wild Urge
LJUBLJANA: Israeli director Sharon Bar-Ziv has finished shooting the Slovenian/Israeli/German women’s drama Wild Urge. The two-week shoot, which took place in Ljubljana and on a hill called Kurescek, ended on 14 December 2021. The script was co-written by Sharon's sister Noa Bar-Ziv, a therapist specialising in eating and trauma disorders of young women.

ZAGREB: Croatian director Igor Bezinović is preparing the feature-length creative documentary-hybrid Fiume o morte!, produced by Restart (Croatia) and coproduced by Videomante (Italy) and Slovenia’s Nosorogi. The film received funding in the December 2021 round of Eurimages.

PRODUCTION: Mirjana Karanović’s Sophomore Feature Mother Mara Wins Eurimages Coproduction Grant
BELGRADE: The popular and esteemed Serbian actress Mirjana Karanović is developing her second feature film Mother Mara / Majka Mara. The project has recently received support of 170,000 EUR from Eurimages. Mirjana Karanović will star in this coproduction between Serbia, Luxembourg, Slovenia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Switzerland.
PRODUCTION: Latvian Director Signe Birkova Shoots Feature Debut Lotus
RIGA: Latvian director Signe Birkova has begun shooting her debut fiction feature film Lotus, a comical phantasmagory about a young woman in 1919 Latvia, who desires new challenges and expression of inner freedom. The film is produced by Roberts Vinovskis and Dominiks Jarmakovičs for Studio Locomotive (Latvia) and Uljana Kim for Studio Uljana Kim (Lithuania).

ZAGREB: The shooting of the debut feature film The Head of a Big Fish by screenwriter and director Arsen Oremović, produced by Maja Vukić and her company Izazov 365, started on 19 November 2021 in the Dubrovčak Desni municipality in Croatia. The crew has now moved to Zagreb, where the filming will last until 15 December.

BRATISLAVA: Slovak director Mariana Čengel Solčanská is moving into postproduction on the Slovak/Czech historical drama The Chambermaid / Slúžka. The film is based on Hana Lasicová’s bestseller published in 2013 about a lesbian love story set in Vienna at the beginning of the 20th century.

LJUBLJANA: Luka Marčetič has finished shooting At Hostar 2 / Pr’Hostar 2 ‰, the Slovenian domestic hit that still holds the record for the most admissions since 1991. The shooting, which took place in Bled, had started on 8 October and finished on 7 November 2021.
