VILNIUS: Lithuanian writer/director Egle Vertelyte is in postproduction with her first feature film Miracle, a Lithuanian/Bulgarian coproduction.

WARSAW: Wiesław Saniewski‘s Squadron 303, the long awaited adaptation of Arkady Fiedler's bestselling novel about Polish pilots who fought in the Battle of Britain, is currently in production. Jerzy Skolimowski, James McManus and Ewa Piaskowska wrote the script.

SOFIA: Serbian writer/director Bojan Vuletic is in postproduction with the dark comedy Requiem For Mrs J, a Serbian/Bulgarian/Macedonian coproduction. Famous Serbian actress Mirjana Karanovic is Mrs J, a middle-aged widow who decides to commit suicide.

PRAGUE: Pavel Sadílek’s Nagano -The Birth of Heroes, a long puppet animated film made under the auspices of the Czech Olympic Committee and the Czech Ice Hockey, is currently in pre-development.

LJUBLJANA: Slovenian director Matjaž Ivanišin is developing his debut feature Wake, a drama about how death and memories affect people’s lives. The first draft of this Slovenian/Czech coproduction has been presented at the Czech Film Springboard in 2016.

VILNIUS: Popular Lithuanian director Emilis Vėlyvis is completing postproduction on the thriller The Night Guards a.k.a. Wings. The film is a Russian production starring Leonid Yarmolnik and Ivan Yankovsky.

SOFIA: Andrey Chertov is completing postproduction on Silent Movie, a feature film based on many documentary elements. The story follows the life of the famous Bulgarian composer, jazz performer and pianist Milcho Leviev, who immigrated to the United States in 1971.

PRAGUE: Director/producer/screenwriter Petr Jákl is preparing a historic epic film about one of the most important personalities in the Czech history, Bohemia’s greatest warrior Jan Žižka of Trocnov. Expected to be the most expensive project in the history of Czech cinema, Jan Žižka is slated to be shot in 2017-2018..

VALLETTA: Acclaimed Bulgarian director Javor Gardev wrapped shooting on his new feature film Icaria in Malta. The film is a Russian production.

BRATISLAVA:  A Hole in the Head/ Diera v hlave, the new film by the Slovak creative documentary filmmaker Robert Kirchhoff, is in final stages of postproduction and is set to be released in November 2016. This essay focuses on the European Romani during WWII.

BRATISLAVA: Slovak director Mariana Čengel Solčanská moved to postproduction as she wrapped the shooting of her upcoming feature film Kidnapping/ Únos end of June 2016. The film is set to be released on 2 March 2017.

RIGA: Ukrainian director Sergei Loznitsa’s new project A Gentle Creature is currently shooting in and around the second biggest Latvian city, Daugavpils. This is his second feature film shooting in southern Latvia after In the Fog (2012).

SOFIA: Bulgarian writer/director Kiran Kolarov will start the shooting of his twelfth feature film Melodrama on 6 August 2016.

BUCHAREST: Armand Assante stars in The Wanderers, an independent feature film produced and directed by Dragoș Buliga, which wrapped shooting in Bucharest on 21 July 2016. The film is a supernatural thriller made with an international cast and crew.

BELGRADE: Serbian documentary director Mladen Matičević is in production with Nebeska Tema, a documentary about the life and work of Vlada Divljan, one of Serbia’s most important musicians.

LJUBLJANA: Slovenian director Sonja Prosenc, whose debut feature The Tree (2014, Monoo) has been selected by the Association of Slovenian Filmmakers (DSFU) as the country's candidate for the Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards in 2016, is developing her new feature film History of Love.
